he did not give us the a-bomb.he was not on the team that designed and built it.he sent a letter to fdr,to let him know that germany might build it first.most of the people who built it were german refugees that escaped befor the out break of ww2.

Albert actually made the intriguing point that a large amount of energy could be released from a small amout of matter. Thus E=mc2
Bombs were not what he had in mind .
He did sign a letter that went to Pres.Roosevelt.I think Szilard...please excuse the spelling...actually wrote the letter That encouraged the building of the A bomb. becuase Szilard had no influence over the men in power and realized albert did.

I doubt if Al was not thinking of chain reactions when he came up with this. But he was a quick study and realized the implications. So he put his pacifity on the back burner vs the greater threat of Germany.
