I think it's a testament to community spirit and humanity that the owner is actually putting 10 cents from every dollar earned towards the charities toys for tots and oboes for orphans.

I think the food is the same if not better and Scott (the owner) has a lot more freedom to do as he wants in terms of menu options, etc since he isn't part of a franchise anymore. I worked as a manager there during high school and through some college when it was DQ and they personally treated me well, but the DQ franchise had a lot of restrictions as to what they could serve, sale, etc, so I really think this transition is a positive one. I really can't blame him at all for leaving the franchise..it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

The food is good and it is a good atmosphere. The only thing that I have to complain about is Dreama she is really really HATEFUL.....She talks rude to people and she acts like her sh*t doesn't stink.

Have you personally smelled it to prove otherwise?

When I lived in Madison I used to eat at DQ from time to time. Personally, I thought the menu items were high at the time, but then I came to Morgantown and I found that the prices there are dirt cheap compared to what we pay for stuff up here.

I never worked there, but knew a few people who did at one time. I haven't been in there, however, since something happened between myself and one of the employees who used to work there.

I was told that Scott dropped the DQ logo because DQ didn't want him to display any of his WVU stuff in the store. I don't know if that's true, but that's what I heard.

I haven't dined at Jakes yet, but then again, I'm only about 3 hours away from there, lol, but I am glad that the food is good and I hope Scott has a lot of success at his store.

Has anyone of you thought about Mr Briscoe He has spent his entire life dealing with the Resturant in one way or another. It is what his family is known for. Since the beginning they've had supporters and haters and people talking behind their backs. O the joy of small town living. DQ was great, great food great atmosphere Yes the DQ franchise became unrealistic with their demands. Wanting to continue to provide great food and great atmosphere for the community to enjoy is how Jakes came about
If any of you on here was intelligent enough to realize being a restaurant owner is far from easy. And certainly not a way to get rich. Whatever Mr Briscoe does with his Restaurant is none of our business it's a personal decision for Mr Briscoe Rather Jakes stays open for years, is only open in summer or never opens again we the public have no say in the matter and no right to talk shit about Mr Briscoe. All of the mad ex employees, and people he has come across in court get over it. No matter what you say anyone who knows Mr Briscoe knows he is one of the best residents in Boone county. You say he can be an ass or rude what have you but who isn't at some point.
So to all you shit talkers..blah blah blah..
And to all the rest of you who know Mr Briscoe show some love and let Mr Briscoe know his home town community has his back. And we all hope Jakes stays open. Yummy yummy

I was with her until she eluded to if people would comment maybe it would save the business.
From what I could tell it did just as much business. My paranoid side says he had this planned from the start.

I never ate there when it was Jakes, but I thought Scott's #1 business was being a small town lawyer.
