First of all, I would imagine that 90% of Boone County has been raised on coal. Coal miners are the hardest working bunch of people there is. If Maria cares so much about her precious trees and mountains she needs change her way of life. 1) she has power..produced by coal. 2) she drives a vehicle..pollution, pollution, pollution. 3) she smokes..maybe that needs to stop in case she accidentally starts a forrest fire. 4) her children attend public school..which has been partly funded by coal mines. I could go on for days about what she needs to change. I wonder if she thinks about the families that are suffering right now because of what she has done. I couldn't sleep at night if I knew children might be going without food because I wanted to save a tree. If all the mines are shut down, Boone County will be a ghost town. It's a shame that the people who were born and raised here..on COAL..can't get up and go to work anymore. not so many years ago people were "black balled" by the coal companies if they spoke against the "COMPANY" for any reason. This is not about coal mining. this is about destruction of the mountians of west virginia. maria is the same as the miner of the 50's that was black balled from work. willing to stand up for what is right. This IS about Coal Mining! Where have you been? Strip mining is a part of coal mining. She is not the same as the miner of the 50's she has nothing in common with a miner other than her family who is in the mining industry.She is a person that is pissed off because she didn't get what she wanted so she is out to ruin coal companies! Like many others...I grew up with coal. My family for several generations are coal miners. Problem with MTR is:
1. It is cheap: Coal company makes a lot of money.
2. A few men mine tons of coal. Not very many jobs there. Coal company makes a lot of money.
3. Many experinced miners say the coal can be mined in a deep mine. Many jobs.
4. Deep mines don't make as much money for the Mine Company.
3. MTR-The Mountain is gone. Reclamation is a joke.
4. Malls/highways etc. provide people with a way of life. MTR mines become scrub grass, swamps, etc. THAT is not a mountain. The mountain is gone forever.
5. Huge coal companies make big dollars. WV people lose again. Mountains gone. Water ruined. People gone.
End of story. So long WV...

OMG....you cant be serious shes nonthing but a trouble making pothead hoe thats jealous of all the hard working coal miners out there she cant find a man to support her becouse of the way she is so there for shes jealous and wont leave the coal miners alone to do there job and support there families shes needs to move out of wv and never come back

33 permits held up 70,000+ i do believe that is "very many jobs" A lot of jobs. Coal companies always make big money if not they wouldn't operate and ppl. wouldn't have jobs. That's where the money is. It is a valuable resource to WV not just coal companies.Take coal away my friend and see what ppl. will lose talk about an ending to a story.
Oh i remember don't take it away just MTR well let me tell you something it does not work like that and that is not what is happening it is affecting underground as well as surface. It is 50/50 when it hits. It's all part of one company and it's always massey."as usual" Obama is fighting coal PERIOD not MTR do you get it!Everytime something hits the first place it hits it underground.
You ppl. have to understand where this money goes EVERYWHERE! From your local schools, pharmacys, gas stations, grocery stores, restraunts, banks, tire shops, churches, welfare depts., fire stations, ball parks, dentists offices, doctors offices,our city,state,government, to the big shopping malls we go to all of time. Have you ever heard of keeping it local when you choose to buy something? Well it's so the small buisnesses can stay local. Without this massive money we make go round from this industry you can kiss all of this good by. Don't you think for one minute i am wrong on this one. I am from underground not surface.If you have a mine in your town massey pays a quarter of a million $ in taxes on it. It's what goes to your roads,bridges, etc in your town.
