I will repeat for the slow readers that I think it is great if a child is potty trained at 1. However, decades ago, it was done by 2 yrs. And I see no direct coralation between potty training early and success later in life. Nor does it prove that a parent was not "helpful" and attentive, etc. when they did choose to potty train at any age. I will say if it makes someone so resentful, obnoxious and belligerent, that they start name calling and talking about family trees about someone they don't even know, that's kinda weird. Anal retentive, you might say. And if you are going to assume that a parent is "allowing a child" to run around in a dirty diaper as the reason for potty training early, then you best start training them at birth. A good parent changes diapers as soon as they are wet or messed, no matter what age. I think potty training early is a great idea, but the argument for it was arrogant, assumptive, and just plain stupid. Suggestions and information are helpful. Belligerence and better-than-thou attitudes promote nothing.

Log onto this site and it will tell you the same thing I just did.I don't need a doctor or a lazy parent to tell me when or what I should be teaching my kids.Unlike you I enjoy knowing that my kids are smart and that they know alot more then other kids their age. They still play like every kid does, but instead of flopping them in front of the TV for hours I actually teach my kids. You should try it.
Many kids show interest in potty training by age 2, but others might not be ready until age 2 1/2 or even older and there's no rush. If you start potty training too early, it might take longer to train your child. In a study of children who started training between 22 and 30 months of age, boys were fully trained at an average age of 38 months, while girls were trained slightly earlier, around 36 months.

It also looks like you need to reread the website you are getting your facts from.

Around 20 months old, may stay dry for longer periods of time and begin to have bowel movements at predictable times each day. May also become curious about the bathroom habits of others. Can learn to wash and dry hands

Age 2-3:
Is typically mature enough to toilet train.

<quoted text> since are the parent and all,and you think it was sooooo bad, then why disnt say anything when he done it?any good parent would have spoken up, right then and there, not go home and cry on their computer. What i think is messed up is the fact your 2 year old is still in diapers! Ever heard of potty training? Get over the fact you chose not to stand up for your kid when he needed you to, and focus on potty training him. A 2 year old is to old to be shitting on himself. Would you want to wear a shutty diaper?
What I think is messed up is that you are a parent who doesn't know how to spell and someone who needs to learn grammar if you want to teach your children something. You think your child is going to be smart just because he or she is potty trained a little earlier than others?

----------
What i think is messed up is the fact your 2 year old is still in diapers!- THAT SHOULD BE A QUESTION MARK AFTER THE WORD "DIAPERS."

disnt - THE WORD IS DIDN'T. You can't say that is a typo because you still forgot the apostrophe.

shutty diaper?

since are the parent and all - Since YOU are the parent and all.. Learn to proofread and spell correctly. Your child may be potty trained, but it sounds like that is all he or she knows having a parent like you.

Umm, I hate to tell you this, but considering your post I might just enjoy popping your little " holier then thou" bubble. I hope this doesn't hurt your ego too bad, but hey, everyone needs to be knocked a peg or two. The sentence you quoted as being wrong and the correct way to end it, well darling it seems that maybe you should learn to read also and maybe even reread it so you might be able to comprehend just exactly what it was that you did read. The CORRECT punctuation mark for that sentence is an explanation point. I did not ask you a question. I was making a statement of shock and amazement at the fact. "What I think is messed up is the fact your two year old is still in diapers!" See, at no point did I ask you a question did I?(see, that's a sentence asking a question in case you need the extra help) Nope. As for my error of hitting the "s" key instead of the "d" key and leaving out the " ' " , I will say 3 hail Mary's on Sunday. Is that God enough? Oh, I almost completely forgot leaving out "you", that's another 2 hail Mary's so I guess I'll say 5 hail Mary's on Sunday instead.
What you fail to realize is that my mistake of failing to proof read a post (honestly sweetie its only topix, not a letter to the president) before posting it can be fixed with a click of my mouse. You on the other hand dear, you can not go back and do the things you failed to do when it actually mattered and counted the most. So anyway, instead of looking for spelling/punctuation errors go fix your own problems cause gordy knows you seem to have a few.
How silly of me, I almost forgot! I used "shutty" instead of the dirty word because like any good parent,(excluding yourself) I don't cuss. And I also used "gordy" instead of taking my lords name in vain before you get all giddy and think you found another error.

My bad. I left out a "o" in the word good. See, I corrected my error. The only sad part is that once you start reading the post you'll get all giddy again thinking you found another error and probably piss your pants in all the excitement. Such a pitty.

kids also show interest in sticking their fingers in a light socket but you dont wait to teach them that its wrong do ya? No. You teach them before they do it. Waiting to reach a kid something until they show interest in it is just stupid and lazy parenting. This generation of parents have a "wait and see" attitude towards parenting. The dont disciine their kids and instead send them to their rooms for timeout. I wish my parents would have sent me to my room to play with toys when i screwed up. Must be nice.

Wow!! someone gets on here and talks about their being farted on in magic mart then all the sudden u are fussing about diapers WOW!! lol. First of all to the parent that allowed that to happen and did nothing about all i can say is you are a failure as a parent nobody would ever do my kids like that and walk out of a store!!!!!!!!! Trust me it would be worth a night in jail to take care of an idiot like that. Now for all the big lectures on the potty training the kids you know what the problem is i see about it, you are bragging about oh my baby was potty trained at 1, well that is great for you. To me it is stupid that early, that is for lazy parents that want to sit on their butts and let the baby do it all. I cant stand people like that. I think people want to rush their kids into stuff to fast, what ever happened to letting them be babies, whatever happened to keeping them little forever. They are grown and gone before you know it. Let them be babies for awhile!!!!!! They have to go to school to early they start with headstart to me that is just a babysitter. You can brag all you want on how special your child is because it pottied at 1 well who cares. That was to early in my eyes. So brag cause it just makes you look like a lazy mother who doesnt like changing diapers i guess that gives u more time to sit huh!!

@MOMMY- Arent you just Billy Bad Ass.....you rebel you!I am ure your kid would be very proud to see you start a fight,be arrested, and handcuffed all because someone farted.Parent of the Year Award to you for sure!
So parents who start potty trying when their kid when it starts walking is lazy? LMFAO!! Yeah,I guess your right.A parent who teaches their kid must be the worlds biggest couch potatoe.
"WHATEVER HAPPENED TO LETTING THEM BE BABIES FOREVER" - You're joking, right?
"sending your child to head start is just babysitting"- Again, you're joking right?
PEOPLE LIKE YOU,WITH YOUR TYPE OF APPROACH TO PARENTING, ARE THE ONES I CANT STAND!!

Your parenting style is the problem with kids today!Mommy and Daddy set back and let them do whatever they want, when they want, and are not held accountable for their actions!I'm sure you find discipling your kid by spanking as corporal punishment too!Whatever happened to the PARENT being their kids teacher?I'm sur you think its everyone else's fault when your kid fails at something too, right?Did you even bother to teach them manners or is that something else you hope they will pick up along the way?You act as though giving a kid responsibility is something new.Its not!My parents had me helping out as early as 2!Helping in the family garden and other things like that.Who ever told you that giving a kid responsibility was bad and it somehow forces them to grow up too fast has to be the worlds biggest moron!I'm sure you'll be a parent when your kid gets slammed in juvie because you chose to let him learn and grow on his own.
Some parents are to willing to pass their child off on others so that they can teach them instead of their OWN parents.

This has to be the most ridiculous thing I have read in a long time. Yes, it was rude and immature for the man to do that, but it was just a fart! It's not like he pissed on your kid or touched your kid, move on! It seems you are more traumatized than your child!
As for the "potty training" comments, developmentally children aren't ready for appropriate self-toileting until 2-2 1/2 years old. Forcing a toddler to potty train before they are physically/mentally ready isn't a good thing; it results in anal retentive adults who think they know everything about parenting! If I were to take a guess I would say that the "potty training queen" is uneducated, doesn't work, etc.

OMG!!! I just found this and I wouldn't doubt it was the same guy who offered me money to fart for him. He's in his 30s and was dressed in dirty clothes and smelled like beer. I was just getting ready to leave MM and bold as can be he offered me money to fart into his hand so he could smell my "essence" as he called it. I just tried to ignore him but he pulls out a $50 bill and told me if I couldn't fart right then we could sit in his van until I could let one. I don't know why I was singled out for this abuse but I wish i had thought to call my BF while he thought I'd was working up a "breath of my essence" as he called it. I didn't know what he was talking about. I nearly fell out when he just spelled out what he wanted. BTW I'm a church going young mother and am very offended by this. It's been a few months back and I still cringe at the thought of this indignity.

First of all, not all children learn on the same curve. Some children learn somethings faster than others. That does not make a person a bad parent. We are all happy you potty trained your children as soon as they could walk, and as a result, saved money.
To call someone a bad parent because their child is not potty trained at two years is ridiculous, and ignorant.
Second of all, your lack of apparent spelling and grammar skills is appalling. It is really no wonder WV has such a bad reputation around the country as being ignorant backwoods inbred hillbillies.
It is easy for people to say what they WOULD have done. Truth is you probably would not have done anything, just like most people would not. Being a woman with a small child and confronting and/or threatening a grown man who may or may not be intoxicated is extremely stupid. I know most of you probably fancy yourself as some badass Kung-Fu hero, but the reality is you would probably get the shit beat out of you or killed. So here is some advice for the rest of you:#1. Get the persons license plate number and make/model/color of thier vehicle.#2. Have someone more physically capable of violence handle the confrontation.
#3. If you cannot articulate a good argument, keep your mouth shut.
It is better to be silent and have everyone wonder if you are an idiot than to open your mouth and leave no doubt.
#4. The "InterWeb" has magical devices known as spell checkers... AND,(wait for it) grammar checkers.*GASP* I know it is shocking. The alternative is stay in school and learn these skills and not always have to rely on computers to compensate for your lack of education and skills. THAT would be a more important lesson to teach your children. Going to the bathroom in the toilet, in the grand scheme of things, is a relatively minor skill and unimportant.
