Netcong, Stanhope hire new shared schools superintendent

A new shared interim superintendent took over this week for the Netcong and Stanhope school districts after a seven-month effort to keep the previous shared superintendent failed, due to red tape and muddy direction from the state, school officials said.

Sorry to hear the news that Mr. DiBenedetto is leaving the school district. As a member of the Netcong-Stanhope senior citizen club, I had the pleasure of meeting him at the senior citizen tea's sponsored by the school for the senior citizens. I found him to be personable and it appeared he fit in well with the teachers, students and support staff. I wish him well in his endeavors.

Will we ever know the truth?
Will we ever know WHY Mr D is not coming back?
Will we ever understand how as the paper states everything was set for his return in April and then "Something happens" and no Mr D.

Can Someone tell me what happened in late April that caused us to lose the best man for the job?

Seems to me there is more to this story than meets the eye.

HE WILL REALLY BE MISSED.

I do not think there is anyone that can take his place and do the job the way he did it.

He did alot for my children and I very much appreciate him for it.

He did his job well for 2 years and he deserves some respect and thank yous.

I for one won't miss him. He had a bad temper. A man that routinely uses four letter words at children, staff, and parents does not belong around kids. Whoever the new superintendent is, he can't be any worse than Mr. D.

I witnessed these first hand "four letter" word outbursts and he also routinely "bitched" about other teachers AND parents behind their backs...he tried to recruit me to be his sounding board and i would have no part of it and when i told him it was wrong and un professional a very scary and bizarre personality surfaced and i kept myself very far away from him after that!! He should go...he has to go and if everyone knew ALL that went on you would agree hands down!!!

Mr. Dibenedetto acted in a VERY inappropriate manner SEVERAL times. He is VERY unprofessional and truly scary around chiildren. He managed to get supporters at the expence of hurting others. He IS under investigation by the state. That is the truth! Netcong needs better, couldn't do worse!

You do not know Mr. D well enough to make comments. Please read the other threads on this site for information. People are not always who they appear to be. Be careful!

With all due respect one meeting with someone does not necessarily form an impression good or bad about someone. Unfortunately you do not have children in the school so it would be farely difficult for you to make an assumption based on one meeting and never being in the school on a daily basis like many of us were!! We appreciate your opinion but it is a little skewed!

Many thanks to both Boards of Education (Stanhope & Netcong) for finally seeing the true colors of Mr. Dibenedetto! The teachers and parents of Netcong and Stanhope should applaud their efforts. He was feared by many and conducted himself many times over and over again in an unprofessional manner. It is a shame for those who were incident bystanders and got in the way of his personal "agenda."

With reference to this topic I would like to thank the Board of Ed for doing such a good job. It was absolutely the right decision.

I have heard this also..... from several people. BD is very into Mr. D and vice versa. Odd relationship for their positions! BD's daughter actually was in Netcong school observing classes last year. Arbolino is also on their side, with HIS girlfriend Meeth. These people need to resign from their teaching and board positions since they are disturbing the proper fuction of the school. I can tell you that yes the kid did observe classes last year for 2 days. But there is NOTHING wrong with that. There are several young students that observe classes at Netcong ALL THE TIME. Most schools allow this it helps young students decide if they want to go into teaching.
I can tell you that the kid in question has a very good high paying job with Target and has had it for 2 years! So once again another false rumor.

As far as the VP and the office secretary goes YOU ARE RIGHT on the money.
The office secretary's daughter and the VP niece,this year has a summer job giving speach instruction and last summer the son and nephew had a summer janitor job and yes the niece again, also had a summer job there. So the truth here is that family gets the paying jobs.

But it is only fair to include the other board member whose wife and daughter work at the school and in turn there is another board memebr that has his wife and mother in law working in the school.

That is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I find it very hard to believe that there was an inappropriate or "odd relationship" given the major health issue BD has. I think someone is trying to start trouble where there is none. So lets stop that rumor now because I do not believe you heard this, I think you made it up! I have not heard this and I am pretty involved with what goes on around town.

FYI -Bernadette Delasanndro's daugther was one of the candidates interviewed (By Mr. D, of course) for the open teaching position at Netcong. Does anyone know if she got the job????

Karen's daughter did get the summer speech position and the job WAS NOT POSTED. Believe this is not legal. PUBLIC SCHOOL POSITION MUST BE POSTED BY LAW. It seems some people in the school are exempt from following the law..........

Not sure why or who brought up Vp KM or sec KK but ALL hires for this year were done in May or June. Sorry but that means after Mr D was told he was leaving and after KM became the VP.

I think you are right they can not vote BUT I repeat they sit there and watch as everyone else votes.

I do believe that the Vp works for Koster plumbing and I have seen the trucks doing work at the school.

Ok I am really laughing out loud on this one.

Who would know if that is true? Oh let me think the people that work in the school. Therefore if this is true you must be one of the 2 sec, Karen or Diane or could you be Mrs Bammer. I do believe that Mrs Bammer would have to interview any canidate too.

Everything mentioned is available to the public So why not.
The secretary's KIDS and VP"S niece and nephew, thats TWO worked at the school last summer and ONE is working at the school this year. Seems odd that the only qualified people are those related to the "KOSTER family". They must be proud, and have nothing to worry about as long as Daddy(as councilman) has final say over budget if it fails and Mommy sucks up to the super and Principle and Auntie has the board in her pocket.
