South Amboy Mayor Jack O'Leary has come out swinging against the anonymous author of an eight-page diatribe against his family and other city officials that has circulated around the city and Middlesex County for several weeks, spreading rumors that O'Leary and the city are under investigation.

I am in no way suggesting that Mr. O'Leary is involved with anything illegal, however, I would like to know why taxes in this town continue to go up and he continues to think that the Senior Citizens are expected to pay these taxes. My family has lived in this town for 50 year or more. They are on a fixed income. I don't understand why they should be paying for new schools, etc. when they have no children in school any longer. The taxes should be coming from those that rent and send their children to those schools. The Seniors of So. Amboy should not be expected to pay for these taxes. They need a break. Mr. O'Leary must realize that it's getting to the point where some Seniors are having to decide on their food, their medications and paying taxes. They should not have to have this worry at this time of their lives.
There are very expensives home in town now. Those homes pay anywhere from $12,000 a year or more for taxes. Where is this money going? The question has to keep coming up since the taxes seem to keep moving up. The Senior Citizens need a break in So. Amboy; I'm sure that Mr. O'Leary must see this and should be focusing on doing something about this.
He cannot get upset if questions start to surface when there is more money in that town than there ever was.
Assistance need to happen; and it needs to happen soon.
I hope that Mr. O'Leary sees this and acts soon.
