There is a new class of Robber Barrons and its called unionized government employees. You greedy teachers are a disgrace. You work eight months out of the year and get on average $60,000 + benefits. You can retire at 55 with 85% of your salary. That means that while the rest of us work until we are 70 , so we can claim our $14000/year SSI Pension, the greedy Robber Barron government workers can live in luxury on $50000/year pension at age 55.Fire all the greedy Robber Barrons. And by the way teachers don't cry about having a Masters Degree. That is another scam.It does not take a Masters Degree to teach kindergarden children how to color between the lines.

I am sure that the members of this organization is simply holding out for provisions that will only benefit they children that they wish to educate.

I am sure it has nothing to do with wanting more paid time off, increased wages, paying less on their insurance, etc.

I am sure it is ALL about the children.

Don't negotiate , you don't have a job!

Start home schooling your kids, grandparents, aunts , uncles

step up, keep the kids at home out of the schools!

Abolish the Dept. Of Education and get the unions out of the classroom!

If teachers have it so great, why don't you become one? There's nothing stopping you. I'd love to see you handle and teach thirty kindergarten students day after day.

A lesson needs taught here! And the way I would handle this is with replacement Educators Period. Look at you state. Then look at the Nation. Are we all gainfully employed? But they are! So all is FINE. Well it's not educator. The kids aren't taught nothing and you educators don't know how to get the point or lesson across to pupils. Test scores are in an.( AMERICA has lost !)And just not a the High School level. Colleges too have gone to the way side of things instead of attacking the real problems. And it all comes back to this article which is about GREEDIE EDUCATORS!! I used EDUCATORS for a reason. And that reason is that your not a Teacher or we would not be losing AMERICA "without a shot being fired!" And that's a quote from a Russian President! Do any of you history Educators Know the answer?

With everyone having to cut back and no jobs, I don't see the public being sympathetic toward teachers.

Some arguements are now past their day....this is one of them...along with the hero worship police/fire arguement, "if you don't support outrages pay, don't call them when you need help"...
...PLEASE...

The fact is...there is no shortage of applicants for teachers,police,firemen....
If they're not happy in their jobs, fire them....There'll be no problem replacing them

So many misconceptions, so little space. Work 8 months out of the year? Make that 9 months per year plus the two months or more in college classrooms, keeping licensure and sharpening skills. Retire at age 55 for 85%? No teachers start at age 20 so it is most likely that they are in their early 60's before getting that high of a percentage. Working until you are 70? That isn't teachers' fault. You had your chance to do something other than what you do and you didn't do it. If you wanted a better future, you could have done something about it. Coloring between the lines in kindergarten? You obviously haven't been in a K classroom recently. They are doing math, learning sounds of letters, and starting to write. In summary, I am truly sorry that you chose your path as you did but you have no cause to bash teachers because you were not wise enough or talented enough to enter the profession. And while AGREE with you that teachers need to take a hit like everyone else does in this economy, I wonder how you felt when things were going well? You looked down on the profession as unworthy of your talents, I would bet. So, stop whining and vote "no" if you wish.

The teacher unions really need to rethink this strategy. This is not an entitlement program. As much as you support all democRATic candidates and love Obama.
The fact is Groveport Madison teacher if they strike will alienate the public and there will be no way another levey will pass.
Go ahead and strike, GM schools need to have a big list of new hires ready to go.

You show true ignorance. I know of no teacher that retires at 55 that gets 85% of your salary. They would have had to begin teaching at 20 years of age because they have to put in 35 years to get 85%, which they are taking away and making all teachers teach 35 years to get 66%. Work until 70 like the rest of us, that's your own fault buddy. Go back, get an education, and stop whining about the people that raise your little brats that are just as disrespectful as your meaningless post.

Hey, why don't you call Olentangy Schools and find out how to p*ss people off, er, I mean, get a levy on the ballot and get it passed? Sorry teach, but with the way the economy is, any sympathy for you and yours is about tapped out.

And as far as a Master's degree, I know people that have gone for 2 summers to University of Dayton and gotten them. Sure, it was pretty rigorous, but 2 freakin' summers? Please - it took me two years to EARN mine.

That's just it, they wouldn't do it because they would be run out in a week. Remember, most of these people whining are people that do not value education in the first place. School wasn't all that good to them so they are lashing out. You can't be rational with irrational people. Education is the key to a promising future.

Are you kidding me???? These are people that have your kids the "MAJORITY" of the day. I always felt that teachers were being underpaid. I recently went on my Childs kindergarten field trip. There are 2 kindergartener class each have 30 kids in there. You are dealing with 30 5 year olds with different personalities. I applaud the teachers for what they do and the patience they have when it comes to dealing with our childrens.

I have agreat idea, teachers. Let's support the Republican party and our newly elected governor who has threatened to do away with collective bargaining and take us back to the pre-1983 negotiations period where superintendents and boards of education decided what salary or insurance benefits we receive. Now, that would be a very progressive event wouldn't it. How do you spell Neanderthal...Republican.

Sounds like you don't like your job either. Maybe you should go back and get a hands on job, perhaps work in a backroom warehouse with no contact with disrespectful people.
