I just found out that wal-mart injects their beef, chicken and other meat with a salt solution. After eating beef steaks for dinner last night, I noticed how salty they were, even though I didn't add any seasonings to the meat. I did a little searching and found out that wal-mart has been doing this for some time now. They say they inject the meat for flavor purposes, but the real reason is to prolong shelf life and add weight to the meat. You end up paying more for old, heavy salty meat. Not everyone can have salt in their diet too, so wal-mart does not label their packages and inform people. If you don't like salty meat, I suggest shopping at giant eagle.

Sounds good to me.

If I have a taste for salt, I fix myself a margaritta.

Walmart doesn't do anything to their meat. Their meat is prepackaged from their meat supplier. If anything is being done to the meat, its before it gets to walmart.
Post the web site where you got your information.

Walmart doesn't do anything to their meat at the store, but their suppliers do. Which is why no one should buy that crap. I'd rather spend my money at Giant eagle and get top quality food and service. Take a look around next time at walmart and see if you can actually find a real meat cutter or let a lone a side of beef hanging around....good luck.

Anyone can do a search on yahoo or google and find tons of information on this.

Giant Eagle sells carbon monoxide:

Want real meat, avoid the chains and go to Bendelewskis.

Carbon monoxide is a gas and it disappears after a while. I'd rather have that in my food than the crap wal-mart puts in their meat.

"Wal-Mart, for example, says a majority of its fresh offerings are enhanced with a 6 to 12 percent solution of water, salt, sodium phosphate and natural flavorings." The natural flavorings aren't really natural. They are mon sodium glutamate based flavorings.

Ham………….contained……23% solution
Chicken Breasts.contained……15% solution
Pork Roast……contained……12% solution
Ground Round….contained……15% solution
Chuck Roast…..contained……11% solution
Beef Fillet…..contained……20% solution

LOL, go buy some bags of GE chicken and see what they contain. You must be stupid if you think they all don't do the same thing.

With their chicken they do, but not their beef. And anything bagged is always going to have preservatives.

I bought pork chops from WalMart. When I fried them up, I was left with a pan of water on the bottom of the pan, which I never had with chops from the grocery store. And the taste is salty salty salty, with little natural pork flavor. I will never buy meat from WalMart ever again.

Just don't eat meat folks...you'll feel better AND look better...meat is so bad for you and very tough on your digestive system....I was never a anti meat fanatic but since I stopped eating it I feel better than I have in 20 years.

I still think you'd feel better if you ate a big piece of meat, but I doubt that it would make you look any better.

It is on the label - just in very tiny print - I didn't notice it until after I bought and prepared steaks and they were so salty we could not eat them, they also became a very strange grey color after broiling, and the texture was just strange. I took all the labels back to the store and got my money back - never buying beef or pork or most chicken (unless it's Purdue) from Walmart again!
