Well I have learned some very disturbing news today that will affect EVERY SENIOR CITIZEN in Madison. It seems that Trustee Pete Wayman, Trustee Bill Brotzman, Councilman Sam Britton, Councilman Vince Loparo and Mayor Mike Evangelista have been in talks amongst each other TO CLOSE THE MADISON SENIOR CENTER! Remember, NO BACK DOOR DEALS FOLKS! I’ve also learned that Mayor Evangelista told Rae Jean Burgard to plan on retiring by the end of this year! You ask how this could be and what benefits this could have…. First off, after being close for a while, the old Senior Center will be reopened as the NEW Madison Village Hall. Second, the NEW Senior Center will be placed at Stanton Park in the Township. Unsure if this would be a new building or placed into an existing building. This would open the door for NUMEROUS grants and moneys that could be used to fund the “cash cow” Stanton Park.

For the people that choose not to believe… There is an Executive Meeting scheduled for Friday November 9, 2007 (Yes after the election) with the following individuals involved: Madison Village Mayor, Madison Village Council, Madison Township Trustees, The Senior Board, Solicitor Graham and Solicitor Murray.

Spread the word to ALL SENIOR CITIZENS in Madison and ASK QUESTIONS PEOPLE!

IMO Seems to me that perhaps someone is trying turn others on certain candidates.

I'd like nothing more then this to be rumor, but this talk has been going on for 2 months now & they know it. so tell me, why haven't they made any attempt to set the record straight? and I find it strange that a few our officals can't even get a straight forward answer from the board members. this tells me somethings going on & it can't be good!

I investigated this and according to 3 of the people accused of hiding this secret, they all assured me this was BS and if there was a meeting held, and this had been discissed why weren't they invited. Perhaps somebody is angry over getting caught for putting fliers (for a certain candidate)in the Senior Center which is not allowed. Maybe she feels as though this will jeopardize her job.

All that I can tell you people, check with the politicians and ask them if their was an e-mail sent out about the meeting on November 9th. Remember, these e-mails would be public record. Ask the director of the Senior Center if she was told anything about finding a new job.

Are you people for real? What do you think the politicians would say, yes you caught us?

Will these politicians be at the meet and greet on Monday?

MadGrad, are you related to Mr. Wayman?

There is a meet and greet on Monday? Since when? I thought they already had the two that they usually have? Do they usually have a meet and greet the day before elections? Don't you think that it kind of late to have it? All I know is nobody is going to change my mind now. I dont know who planned this but it is really stupid to plan one so late. Unless it is someone trying to give themself one last chance after practicing speaking a little more.(having a friend set up another meet)

Would these meetings be on the Village or Township Calenders? If not who do we ask if there is such a meeting?

There are 2 meetings definitely set. At the 44057 originally) community meeting last Sat., it was made clear that politicians are no longer allowed to come to the senior center as they have always done in the past... for years. They had already been scheduled and then the mayor and/or the Senior Board said they were now not allowed to come unless they all came at a certain time. The mayor at the Sat. meeting told us all and it was suggested it still be held. A village resident who was there offered to set it up if the mayor wanted and he then called her later and asked HER to set it up. The date of Monday, Nov. 5 was set although many seniors will be away on a 2 day trip. But since the election is the next day, it was set by the mayor and the famale resident of the village... not a politician.

The other meeting on the 9th is a definite!! I was told by one of the participants that it is to be held. And the people who are coming are the ones mentioned in the announcement above. Whether Rae Jean Burgard is invited, I do not know. But I am positive, Fatima, that IT IS A REAL MEETING!! As to the Senior Center being closed as mentioned above, I do not know but that is certainly the rumor all over town.
The meeting on MOnday is for the Senior Center but I would assume that others could go?? I do not know for sure.

I just asked and it sounds as if others could also come to the meeting at the senior center on Monday. It is an open forum.

The closing of the senior center will be a disaster for 5 to 600 citizens who use it daily for companionship ,meals and advice which many of them have no other resource to. The site is a state meal center and was funded primarily with Senior coalition money to begin with .If the village and the township can't get their act together over who controls what it is time to sweep them all out.

I hope the politicians that are in office now better think about when they get older and need a place to get a warm meal, a place to exercise, a place to socialize better think about where they are going to go. Madison Senior Center is the best center around this area. The center was made possible by senior center coalition money and funded by people and tax payers money. I love my senior center and the director that runs it. Keep our center where it is and the director that is so loved by OUR SENIORS OF MADISON.

You have just lost your vote for the following trustees Wayman, Brotzman, Laparo, Evangelista, Britton, there have been talks amongst others to close the Madison Senior Center. This is not going to happen if we can help it.
