How true. with that said though, i understand the recent uproar with the nooses and am pretty sure somewhere in an all white community with NO CHANCE of a black person seeing it there will be offensive displays however i won't comment on this one specifically because hanging dummies has always been a halloween 'thing' my mother has been doing it for as long as i remember. therse things are not hard to comprehend i'm sure we can tell the difference between something offensive and something done in the 'holiday' spirit.

I am so glad that "the watchdogs" spoke up. It seems that if something doesn't offend "you" directly you can not try to have compasion for other feelings. Since you call yourself a "Professor" I should hope that you are level headed enough to debate and listen to others reasoning for their feelings and reactions. In stead of beinging pigheaded and one sinded. Ignorance is bliss.

<quoted text>You said it,halloween 2002 I had an Hasidic jew hanging from a tree and an SCPD dummy sitting in a chair with knives in him.The cops were'nt interested in the jew but felt the dummy cop was of bad taste and destroyed it on my property. The DA refused to press charges on the cop for tresspassing and property destuction because the display was of "poor taste".
Why do you feel that it was appropriate to have a Hasidic Jew hanging from a tree? I hope Hasidic Jews complained about your display and I hope the got it removed.

And you see the cops felt it was in poor taste to have a dummy cop with knives in him displayed. The knives were to kill the cop... correct? The noose was used to kill African Americans.... correct? So why wouldn't African Americans be mad. If a Black person hung a white figure in a noose out side their home that wouldn't be tolerated. So come on!

More people looking for something to bother themselves about-I doubt this family's Halloween display had NOTHING to do with being racist. They should have left it where it was.
