These kind of amber alerts make me so angry on so many levels.
I understand that when a child is in the custody of the other parent its a crime to take off with the child.
But there are literally THOUSANDS of missing children all over the United States who deserve our focus.
This is an issue for the family courts and police to intervene OUTSIDE of the missing children realm.
This child's father may be a gun toting thug-but this is his son, and the odds of him harming the boy are slim. He took off with the child because he WANTS the child more than likely.
Again-this is a legal issue between the parents and the courts.
If the police need to be involved-go right ahead-but dont waste precious alerts on children who are in custodial tug of wars!
These kind of cases desensitize people when children are abducted by sex traders and child rapists. We see so many abductions by the non-custodial parent in these amber alerts I cant help but feel this is a real problem.
Yes, I want that kid to be returned to the custodial mother-but GEEZ cant they solve this family court issue another way?

Why is this just being report or ambert alert just issued if the baby was last seen 5 days ago. Martin could not be to dangerous if you wait 5 days to report the child is missing

...you see what Im saying? The kid was safely returned just like I knew he would be. Meanwhile we have children out there who actually HAVE been abducted.

I guess that you complain when the weather service issues a storm warning and nothing happens to. Look, it is better to err on the side of caution than to assume; I could also see you BLAMING the same system for not issuing the alert if the child was not returned safe and sound.

Look-a storm is hardly comparible to a child-and a child who happens to be gone an extra day with their father is hardly comparible to a child who has been snatched from their yard by a local pediphile. As I stated-this is a problem between the courts, the police, and the parents-NOT the entire state of Mississippi.

Who will determine if the parent is or is not a pedophile? I, like you, would love to feel that all parents would protect and not harm their own or others children but unfortunately this is not always the case.

On a side note, it is refreshing to be able to have a point on point with another person with differing thoughts and not have it devolve into name calling; I respectfully tip my hat to you!!

Let me restate my point, and thank you. I think that these kind of alerts are an inherent waste of time, energy and attention because it is a problem between two biological parents who both apparently wnat the child. One takes off with the child-the other one panics and makes accusations-such as "the father is violent!". because they want their child back and will resort to any measure at getting them back including using the amber alert system-which was designated for children who are abducted and are in danger. It would make much more sense for situations like this to be handled directly through the police department and the family court. My issue is not a flippant disregard for the child in this case. It is an observation of how we can be more helpful towards the children who really are in danger. And if the dad was a pediphile-..again-its an issue to be adressed in family court.

Weary Warrior,

You must have not experienced your child not being returned to you. Ive been through it and its heart breaking when you dont know where they are or if they are ok. EVERY CHILD MISSING DESERVES AN AMBER ALERT! No matter how long they are missing or who they are with. Parents or no parents. All I can say is, by reading your responses you must not have children or you would understand.

I understand that no matter how painful and heartbreaking it may be-it is STILL an issue to be resolved in family court. Children "abducted" by one of their parents are typically not in danger-though the other parent may be worried. If a parent is violent and does not have custody of the child-call the police, then when the child is returned-press charges, and get a restraining order. In this article it says that no charges were filed. What does that say to you? It says this woman panicked-made use of a service intnded for abducted children who are in danger..and after claiming the father was violent-she still opted to not press charges. Uh...guess she will use amber alert when this happens again.

The father is not a thug and is a loving, caring and passionate father. Unfortunately, the media can distort many things and can assasinate anyone's character. Believe half of what you see and less of what you read. Remember, this could be you or I tomorrow on the front page fighting for our rights.
