Hunter Lane Darlage was born at 24 weeks weighing 1 1/2 pounds. Hunter was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy due to his extreme prematurity. Hunter has been through so many trials and tribulations in his 15 yrs of life you often wonder how he can still have a smile on that lil face. Hunter has had numerous surgeries from birth to present. With the most recent entailing a reconstruction of the right pelvis to make the socket deeper and also a bone cut of the femur to put it deeper into the socket. Along with the same femoral procedure on the left side, as it was dysplastic as well. Many complications not only during surgery but afterwards as well. Hunter has continued to lose mobility to this day. Hunter is still extremely weak and is now having some type of spasms and extreme pain in his thighs that cannot be determined what is causing it. He is no longer able to bear weight on his right leg at all. Hunter is confined to his wheelchair, bed, and bath tub. Hunter attends physical therapy three times a week an hour and a half away from home one way. Along with numerous Dr. appointments on the same day or days in between two hours away from home. This causes Hunter to be in much more pain while traveling due to not being able to sit in his fitted wheelchair. Hunter also suffers from a tethered spinal chord and gout. Having to lift Hunter out of his wheelchair to transfer him in and out of vehicle back and forth is very painful for him. Due to all of the transferring we do with Hunter in and out of wheelchair causes Hunter excessive anxiety, knowing that their is pain involved. Making it harder to be able to hold and transfer him safely.
Financially his parents are unable to meet Hunters needs with a handicap accessible van. They are currently traveling approximately 500-750 miles a week to meet Hunterís health needs. It is costing them every dime they make for gas to get him back and forth. This would be a dream come true for Hunter to be able to ride comfortably in his chair and not have the extra pain and discomfort. Please Vote for Hunter and make his dream come true!!
