What a mess

Richmond, KY

#21 Mar 6, 2012
When Canaan was open before they had low test scores, high teacher turn around rate, an accused sex offender 5th grade teacher, a 3rd grade teacher who was on probation and was eventually let go. They had to bus 50 kids from Madison after telling These families they had know choice, that Canaan was their district...20 miles away from Canaan and Anderson was 4 miles away! Think about it folks!

Please go to www.canaancommunityacademy.com to gather accurate facts about this wonderful school that will open in August 2012. There is NO TUITION to attend, class sizes are limited, and enrichment programs are offered. What a mess, thank goodness the superintendent who was responsible for sending those teachers to Canaan is not going to be involved with the Canaan Community Academy in any way. Those teachers that you talk about are not going to be teaching there either. Canaan will have their own administration and board. Canaan has always been successful and the tradition will continue.

For those concerned about tax dollars. We still pay taxes even if our kids go to a private school and not everyone gets a voucher. Its a sacrafice we make by our own choice for our children's education. It just depends what your your child needs. There are pros and cons for all the schools available

Most people don't have the resources for that option.

I had to adjust some things to send my kids to private school. I dont buy newer cars due to my tuition payments and it played a part in the home we have, but its worth it......Go Shawe!, Pope John!

It's great that you have that option. You have made education a priority. I would probably do the same if I had the resources. I'm a single mom and I am lucky to make ends meet without needing government assistance. I know from experience how important education is. I think it's important for any parent to be very involved in their child's education. Encourage your kids, help them with their homework and communicate with their teachers. We obviously need skilled teachers but education doesn't begin and end in school.

Canaan Academy is off to an excellent start and it's good to see such a positive outcome from the desolate decision of the Madison School Corp.

They have private schools in Madison for parents who are not comfortable sending their children to Junior High. Canaan is wonderful school, and all of their teachers are certified.
