I'm curious about a few things. Are there plenty of jobs in the Madison area and is it usually expensive to rent down there? I also wondered how the schools are and daycare. I'd love to move down there...

Madison is a great town to live in. The public schools are not the best, but the private school are great! The majority of people who have complaints only do so because they allow themselves to stoop to the level of the scum in this town. I have no issues! I think it's a great place to raise children if you are leading the appropriate lifestyle!

um...i do live the appropriate lifestyle, but when the police do nothing about the theft in town and are running around like kids screwing everything in sight, i guess theres not much room for catching theives. your kidding yourself, this is a crap town. and when my kids come home everyday upset because of bullies that the school system does nothing about, i dont think this is a great place for kids. there is nothing for kids to do around here but school, and they get abused there, the historic downtown is just for show, no one is doing good down there, and the hill???? what is there to do..wal-mart? fast food? thats it, what else? alot of nothing, i will leave as soon as i can!

Every town has issues. As for the hilltop, no, it is not Sax 5th Avenue in Ney York. The hilltop businesses are all those you would find in any town in Indiana. So Mark, go find your OZ. You will spend your lifetime looking..........

oz..really. im not looking for any oz, i will go somewhere theres not a bar on every corner, and a town drounded in meth, crack and herion, and theft thats gotten way out of control, and officials that are blind to the corruptness, and wheres theres anything else to do besides drink, and wheres theres anything for my kids to do besides get treated badly at school. im looking for no sax 5th avenue, thats just a joke, just more than a walmart, but madison doesnt let or want anything else. people are to sit in there homes and hope they dont get robbed while they sleep, not sure where you live in madison, but the town is dying, and i think you are living in oz in your head if you cant see it. every other store is empty downtown because theres so many rules no one can make it. the real people who live in madison are tired of it, but no one ask them, its all about the small mined people who are just living in a bubble and ignoring the real problems.
oh yeah

Hell no this isn't oz, lol it's crap we can't have new businesses or factories. Because of town council decide on what will have They talk a big game but they don't do nothing but chase away the competition To protect their investments. yeah we got all kinds of property, RoomTo Build and grow. but it's never gonna happen.. its a retirement community this is where to come to die.. as far as the youth of Are community dont have anything to do but drink and do drugs. they want to have fun build something in this damn town. is perfect to be something we should of took the gambling boat. sure crime would have come with it. but at least we have something to do the town would have benefited and business would have come. But all the old farts of the town say nope. the town council cant see passrd their own desires..

I just read in the Madison Courier where "Local historians had set up a fundraiser hoping to bring the letter home - getting about $20,000 in pledges in less than a week" just for a civil war letter! There are starving children, or parents unable to pay electric/gas bills to keep them warm that need help because of the worthless jobs in Madison! When I needed a little help, there was nowhere to find help! They all made me feel stupid. I am so glad I moved away. The kids are happier with a lot more to do, better schools, and wayyy better jobs.

It's really not bad. I love living in Madison. It's not without its problems but every town has things that can be improved. It is what you make of it. I have a great job & I have wonderful neighbors. I enjoy Clifty Park, the riverfront and the festivals we have. We're pretty much centered between Louisville, Indianapolis & Cincinnati so if I want to experience city life, I am close enough to do that. Then I get to come back to this charming town.

either your a city offical, or the mayor himself trying to sell this town, cause thats a load of crap. try asking the real folks who live in this town, take a poll, try to make it better, its not even liveable to most. and try to fix to corruptness....thanks

I assure you, I'm not a city official and I'm not even a fan of our current mayor. My eyes are not closed to the issues in our community. But I have lived in other places and those places have the same problems. In most cases it was worse. Why do you choose to live here?

You could always get a job in another town then find a place to live in that town. You are not a victim being held hostage here. Best of luck to you.

Exactly my point. In the real world, every town has its struggles. Jobs are hard to find everywhere. It's a nationwide problem. There are many places that are far worse than Madison. I'm not trying to fight with you, I'm just giving you my perspective.
