The employees are very grateful for FBC and the community for stepping up and helping the employees. One thing I'm saddened by is the lack of care shown by the Newborn family for their employees. They haven't lost much if anything because they have insurance to cover their loss. They haven't helped their employees NONE who lost their jobs during this Christmas season. The owners daughter gets on fb and bashes the other local churches for not helping out. They (the Newborns) could do at least something to help these families out who lost their jobs so close to Christmas. It is just so sad that they demand so much of their employees and when the employees need them, they are not there for them. They won't be doing without anything this Christmas but the hard working employees who help build their family business will be doing without what they need.

Typical of them . selfish people. Worried more about themselves than the one's that help them the most .

They also got paid for working there too.
Just because somebody employs you does not mean that they are responsible for
Your livelihood, you work an hour and you get paid an hourly rate... It is very sad about the loss, but I'm sure the owner is out alot of money also from his business being shut down

You have a point about them not being responsible for thei livelihood. Its just the principle of the situation. Its a sad loss for the owners and employees but the owners have come out on top. They got quite a bit of money from the insurance company when they paid off. They could have least gave their employees a Christmas bonus like the $100 they have given in the past. So far though they have done nothing for them and they expect all the churches to help them and the Newborns got enough from the settlement to help those families out.

You seem to have the same attitude the govt does. Rob money from small business owners and give it to the less fortunate. The way I see it they earned their money fair and square, they took the risk and started a business. It's very sad but it's not their responsibility. However it would
Be thoughtful of them. You have a very socialistic attitude.

This is so typical. People basing others when they have no clue what is even going on. It is true that the First Baptist Church of Tallapoosa are the only locals that offered to help and they will never know how much their kindness was appreciated! No one bashed anyone online all that was said is the truth. She made it a point to say how shocking it was that all the other local churches (mainly rehobeth) are so set on helping people in other countries that they can't take time to help locals in need. The truck stop gets large church groups in every week and none of those people were around to help at allafter the explosion. And the owners and managers worked over everyday after the explosion to get the necessary paperwork ready so we could start drawing our unemployment, they took up donations and even though we aren't technically still employees we got a Christmas bonus. We work for great people and anyone that can suit and bash them really has no clue what is really going on. I appreciate every act of kindness that has been shown by my managers, owners, Co-owners and especially Tallapoosa First Baptist Church!! Thank you all!

Number one if you are a family friend they sure don't need enemies. Number two she is not a Newborn, she is a step-daughter. Number three you have no idea how much help the employees did receive. Number four the owner has never asked an employee to do anything he himself has not done, including climbing in dumpsters and cleaning the bathrooms. Number five please educate yourself on a subject before you post something and wind up being completely wrong and just making yourself look stupid, or maybe a disgruntled employee (huh, makes me wonder.....)

do these employees not have money saved up for something like this? What if they simply closed the plant, does that mean the company has to pay these people who spent eir money on beer and lottery tickets instead of getting insurance to protect themselves?

I am the step daughter who mentioned other churches in a Facebook post. I didn't see it as bashing just stating the obvious. I am also the person dealing with the insurance company. We have spent out over 30,000 of company money to get back open and get these employees back to work instead of sitting waiting on insurance money.. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN one dime of money yet. It has been a month and still no money. Family Friend you are not because you don't know jack. Clarence used his own money and gave the employees a bonus. Also why am I getting bashed when the millionaires whom caused this problem in the first place didn't give a single penny. You see I am not afraid of putting my name here. I tell the truth and do not need to hide behind lies and ignorance.
