Let's see

Nacho cheese tasted like velvetta
Clam chowder was definitely out of a can and cold
The fries were those awful frozen starchy things
My house wine tasted bitter
The staff was milling around checking there cell phones

And I really was annoyed by the cheesy classic rock blaring through the dining room

Quite possibly the worst food ive ever had at a restaurant

This is the worst restaurant on the shoreline

After being greeted by a pleasant updated Dinning Room the remaining experience is grossly disappointing. With only two other tables occupied, the carpet throughout the room was littered with food. The menu is limited and offered NYC prices. The service was slow and the food failed to entice the palette. Not recommended.

I have hung out on the shoreline many many years. What a great job turning the old Vickys building into a great new hot spot on the shoreline. The food is very good, great prices.Service @ the bar is good, makes me feel special.Patrick & C.D. work hard to make the customers feel welcomed and @ home...not to mention this is a great place to find the best bands on the shore,...dance the night away..!!!,.I have met the Donahues less the a year ago,and they are great hosts..!!!! Thank-you,Pat,C.D.,and the entire Donahues staff, great job,..just what the shoreline needed.

I have read a lot of " bashing the food " @ Donahues...this is the scoop,..I'm a chef and I know good food, plain and simple. I have had there flat bread pizza, honestly I didn't care for it,however they have the best Cornbeef Ruebin on the shore, better than Bill's seafood Ruebin, and the best I have had since Archie Moores in new haven,#1.The Cornbeef @ Donahues was moist and tender.I have taken 3 separate dates there, having tried there rap sandwich,French dip, burgers, ham club, all with great success,I personaly would serve steak fries,or hand cut fries, the food is very good and I'm a fussy guy.Donahues is clean, and one date commented on cleanliness of ladies room,ditto..men's room.,My dates had a great time as well

I have been to D several times for lunch. I absolutely love the onion soup and Thanksgiving sandwich (forget the name of it). Have tried some other things and they've all been pretty good. The bar is great, nice and roomy - I love when places have booths in the bar, and it's a great place to see a band. But as someone else said it's NYC prices, and they ain't lyin'! I would probably go more often but I can't justify spending that much on a bowl of soup.

Have never had a negative experience at Donahue's and the staff are both friendly and attentive. Our dining experience in the restaurant area has always been relaxing and conversation always came easy with any music that might be playing in the bar area ~ only adding a nice, upbeat music back drop to our meals w/out ever being too overbearing. Perhaps it depends on timing or mood/atmosphere. If we want a quiet romantic meal,or one in which we wish to have a coupling of friends/family, we would visit Cafe' Allegre which is also a wonderful restaurant located in Madison and a better fit for such occasions. As for the bar area, they have exceptionally good bands as well as a great open mic night with tons of talent. It is refreshing to finally have such an establishment on the shoreline that encompasses both good food as well as great entertainment and embodies just what we have needed for a long time. As far as watching patrons being served too much alcohol and stumbling out to their vehicles to drive away ~ Surprising to hear because as people who have been there ample times for both dinner as well as music, we have never been witness to that. Vicky's sat vacant for much too long yet had amazing potential. Glad to finally see that come to fruition!!

PS..... Although it comes up as my being a Branford resident, we are not. Born and raised in Madison and ate at Vicky's back in the 70 and 80's and currently live in Madison now so have seen a lot restaurants and bars come and go or fail completely. Although there might be some complaints in the food, it is still the only establishment I have witnessed that offers decent if not great food as well as never-fail entertainment and were able to pull it off without a hitch.....

LOUD!!! Decent food (although a little pricey), service is spotty and typically on the slow side. Nice atmosphere, but everybody I know says the same thing... the music is WAY, WAY too LOUD! If there's a band playing, forget about trying to talk with anyone and plan on your ears ringing after you leave! Suggestion to the owners, the acoustics are bad/bright in there to begin with, turn the amps down 25% so people can hear each other and it will be FAR more enjoyable for all. This coming from a person that loves live music too...
