So because you don't like New Haven the police shouldn't bother to call the parents of any kids arrested there and release them with pta's? You just showed how ignorant you are. Contrary to your dim-witted view of New Haven, it is not a city filled with parents who have no idea where there kids are. MOST of the people in New Haven never get in trouble, but because the media knows people like you will eat up any bad story they run, they do as sensational a job as they can. The bottom line is if they wouldn't get released in the city because of the nature of the crime then the kids in the burbs don't deserve any breaks either. This is why the judicial system is **** up and it appears like some people get arrested more than others.

You keep proving my point. All your jokes are gay jokes, so I'm assuming you were that guy that went camping and woke up with his pants around his knees and Vaseline on his ass and wants the rest of us to fall victim to that abuse like you did. Sorry. Not gonna happen.

Are there even any Madison cops left? I thought they were all fired for doing drugs themselves? Hmm... News to me.
Many have been replaced and, while scandalous and inexcusable, they were not, to my knowledge, specifically drug related.

All the cops in Madison did drugs? you are the biggest moron and I see you didn't pay attention to the past stories of what they were charged with
Mr Magoo didn't smoke enough pot to reclaim his eyesight, but the LSD did wonders
Thank you and exactly!

I can tell you, from personal experience, that I have dealt with some of the new cops in Madison and they were really kind and open -

Now, that may have had something to do with MY demeanor........its ALL about diplomacy - whether you are dealing with clients, cops, children, teachers, exes, etc.......

And, they did happen to mention that fact that THEY (the new crew) are constantly accepting the backlash from the sins of their predecessors. They don't want to be the enemy right now - BUT, a lot of them get their hands tied when another citizen complains - they are, then, bound by law, to follow procedure.

I'm generally VERY careful and reserved with small town cops - I grew up with them. BUT, there are ALWAYS a few good ones in the bunch - always......

The streets of Madison are spattered with litter - get these kids out cleaning the roads, the ball fields need tending, the town gardens and memorials, the beach, etc.- put them to work and stop wasting the tax payers money and the court's time.

BUT - I DO want to say, DUI - totally other story.

I have a daughter in HS and the liquor scares me much more - even if SHE'S not drinking, what if one of the boys is and gets all aggressive?

No mention of how much marijuana was confiscated, probably too little to mention... Kids are such easy targets, it gets to dirty cops out of the spotlight.
No, and I haven't heard about it. Surprised my girl didn't tell me but she was out with the flu so she may have missed it.

I will ask, though....she gives me all the scoop.

They did say that 2 were with the "intent to sell" but, as far as I know, in CT, that can still be a very minimal amount.....I believe the same amount that has been relegated to "misdemeanor" status in other states.

I DO believe in legalizing medicinal marijuana in CT and was very disappointed when Gov Rell voted it down last year - especially in light of the fact that she in a cancer survivor.

In addition, those kids aren't even allowed to carry bottles around school anymore because they were sneaking booze in them throughout the school day.

I wish the cops would REALLY hone in on the drinking - its far more dangerous, imo.

The kids that were arrested are scumbag druggies and should be thrown in jail. Let them rot. Who cares.

So, a kid makes a mistake and you throw them away?

Jeeze! I hope you're not a parent.

I disagree with Terry's statement, but if it were kids in New Haven or Bridgeport everyone would be okay with it so we should have equal opportunity punishment. If society would throw out the city kids for the same mistakes, then the suburb kids are no better and should get tossed out as well.

Or we could just stop this insane war on drugs and not worry about what people put into their own bodies. Make drugs legal. Seriously. The stuff in the super market and at the liquor store is deadlier than most of the drugs sold. And as for the coke and heroin, again, no government should dictate what someone does to their own body.

It used to be illegal to masturbate, it used to be illegal to have premarital sex, it used to be illegal to drink alcohol, yet all these things are legal now. Cocaine and heroin used to be legal, so was marijuana, George Washington and all those guys loved it. Ecstacy used to be legal up till the 80s when it was known as the love drug in bars and clubs. LSD, while not legal is currently being used to treat certain mental conditions. As is Ketamine and Marijuana. Seriously, who cares who does what to themselves? Jealous people maybe, but why?

I DO support a restructuring of the laws in terms of Marijuana but only Marijuana.....not the others.

My thing, which I tell my girl, is that I think that whether it comes to sex, drinking, pot, volunteer military service, dropping out of school, et al, I think that 18 is the MINIMUM age.

Kids CAN wait until 18 for A LOT and they are willing, with the right encouragement, attention, understanding and forgiveness.

Terry's comment bothered me because too many kids feel like they WILL be thrown away if they err and that is just plain wrong.

ALL kids need to know that they are NOT disposable - inner city or suburbs.

It is a fallacy that growing up in the suburbs is a cake walk and sooooooo much easier than the inner city. While their challenges and issues differ, it is, I believe, often equally as difficult more often than not.

I know - I grew up in a Ffld county suburb and lost a dozen friends 'tween the age of 16 and 26......I'm 42, now, and that count has increased to to 17......I'm pretty sure that can compete with any inner city kids lost chit.

I agree with you that the kids in the suburbs can tend to have an easier time getting OUT of legal trouble - and, that's 'cause their folks have more money. Its as simple as that. But, that doesn't make the kids any less valuable, lovable or worthy of forgiveness. Its not a sin to come from a financially stable home, just as its not to NOT come from a financially stable home.
