Hello? This young girl was a passenger sitting with her seat belt on. A young man was driving. The statistics for young drivers in accidents are frightening- across the board. Have some sympathy for this young life that was taken to another senseless tragedy.

wonder what kind of car.

Sounds like she actually did all she could (by wearing her seatbelt)

A sad situation. Sorry to hear about the loss to the family and friends.

Reckless driving and speeding caused this accident and at 2:50 Saturday morning, you can probably bet alcohol will be determined to be another factor. The good news is that no other innocent people were hurt or killed when this speeding, out of control car crashed. As for the victims themselves, if you drive like that or ride with others that drive like that, you will eventually die a tragic, horrific death. Tell your idiot friends to slow down, or else get out of the car and call someone.

I think the take away message is NOT to wear your seat belt. Those not wearing seat belts were ejected from the car to safety, while the young woman who died was strapped in.

I hate the mandatory seat belt law. Keep ticketing me, cops. I'll keep not wearing mine.

I totally agree with what you said. Usually they are driving the Family Lexus when they do this and are driving erckleesly prior to doing it. I don't know where they are going in such a hurry. Some of them are in a rush to die.
These kids should have been home and in bed at this time when they crashed. Where are the parental controls. If you are out past two A.M. with kids from four different towns you better be having a sleep over bcause you cannot bring them all home in the car before 4:30 A.M.

I don't think we should be talking about who was driving or any statistics....i hope young drivers learn from accidents such as this. I pray for that girl's family.

This is a terrible loss for her family and friends and I sympathize. Nod Road is short and narrow, with uneven surface and some little twists. Definitely not a road on which to drive fast. Route 81 or of course I-95 (both very close by) are much better choices for speed, which is always ill-advised in a fully-occupied car and especially with a young driver who doesn't understand how inertia and physics and traction actually work. So sorry to read this.

We have all been young and have done stupid things. No one is perfect. To the judgemental people...please take your negativity elsewhere. This family has suffered an immeasurable loss. If it were yours, I don't think you would be so harsh.

say all you want about the young girls and how they drive..... in this case it was a GUY driving the car.
instead of posting negative messagesfor all to read maybe you should get yourself in check and realize that people make mistakes and unfortunately in this case, alot of people will be grieving this loss.

Excessive speed, which is the preliminary cause quoted for this accident, does not know gender, and it really doesn't matter who was driving other than to determine who is getting arrested and sued for it's ultimate result.

Speeding is not a "mistake", it is a decision one makes to either show off or to prove that he or she is an idiot, and there is no need for it other than to erect another makeshift memorial along a roadway.

Days before this accident I had a discussion with the girl who died in this accident about how quickly life can change and about how every decision in life can have it's effects in ways you may never even know. Looking back on this conversation hurts because she made the wrong decision and this is how it ended up.
She was the only one in the car wearing her seatbelt and not in control, i can only imagine that terror her last seconds were and wish that I could take them back.
As a good friend, I hope that others can learn from this accident and really think about every decision you make before you do. because every decision has it's consequences.
I love you Kirsten. I will always have you in my heart.

This must all be pretty upsetting to you. Er, uh, did you kind of feel that she needed a bit of talking to?
