I driven "down" Cheat Mountain many times and always say a prayer when we reach the bottom. If you come this way again, two other beautiful roads to try are WV 72 that crosses US 50 about a mile before Cool Springs. 72 North goes to Rowlesburg and runs along a white water river that is beautiful. 72 South just goes off into God's country toward Parsons, but be prepared for some very narrow roads. Another road to take north is 92 toward Reedsville and Arthurdale. Arthurdale is a little community the the Roosevelts helped to establish during his presidency. Interesting history lesson here.
