Car stereo noise rankles Roseville neighbors
One Roseville man unplugs his touch lamps so that the thumping, bass-booming music of passing cars doesn't light up his house.

I think know who you are I saw you on that web site Bigidiot.com

there are set time frames i believe that people should have to turn the sound down to a level that is reasonable after 10 pm to 7 am that is just being respectful to your fellow man and i have a "system" in my truck and it gets loud but i like most should make sure that at around 10 pm the sound never goes higher than it needs to i make sure i can hear my music and i make sure i enjoy my ride but after 10 there is no reason to blast music during the day i see no problem with it tho, so there are laws against music blairing in scs after 10 so maybe thats what it should be like in roseville.

I appreciate your courtesy Mike, there should be more like you. BUT, there are noise ordinance laws that are not being enforced. It doesn't matter the time of day or night. The law states that nothing shall be heard from more than 50 feet away or it is a violation and ticket. If I have my windows and doors closed, and if I want to sleep, in the privacy of my own home, no matter WHAT TIME of day or night it is, I shouldn't be subjected to such arrogant, ignorant behavior. I don't want to hear it. It's plain and simple. I don't tread on or disturb anyone else and I demand that same respect. My mom used to yell at me all the time about turning down my stereo. But let me tell you, I could have my car stereo up as loud as it will go, and it's a pretty good stereo system, but I would not be able to hear it in the privacy of my own home from my street. That is because of the kicker bass sound systems. You really don't hear any music per se, it's the damn bass. It's the thumping, pulsating, booming vibrations and what the perpetraitors don't understand, or don't care about is that this type of low frequency sound travels not only through the air, but through the ground and up in to the quiet silence of someone's home. This isn't right. It's against the law. I shouldn't be FORCED to listen to this or feel it. My cabinets, walls, windows and floorboards shouldn't shake rattle and vibrate! I've argued this for almost three years now because the problem is only getting worse, in Roseville and throughout metro Detroit. I pay high taxes in Roseville and it SOUNDS like I live in the ghetto. I don't live in Detroit. I have rights to a quiet and peaceful existence. True, there are nuisance noises like motorcycles that are being targeted as well...and there are trains and trucks and lawnmowers and other things that are NEEDED in life, there's not much we can do about that. But to be FORCED to listen to, and feel these stereos, day in and day out, all day and all night, is absurd and against the law. There are days when I hear 40 to 50 instances a day! I don't want to hear it and I shouldn't have to put ear plugs in my ears in the privacy of my own home. I'm not some old dude that just sits around and bitches at things just for the sake of bitching. I LOVE music, and I love it loud! But there is a time and a place, and for these idiots to be running up and down our taxpayer funded streets, disrupting everyone in their paths with no regard to our quality of life, it isn't right. It's NOT the place. Why don't these idiots wear headphones in the cars if they wanna thump and hear it loud? Why should WE have to suffer? I should back my truck up under these idiots' bedroom windows at 4 a.m. and rev my truck up and see how THEY like it! I will die fighting this, let me tell you. We are working with lawmakers to make the fines higher and the penalties tougher, including CONFISCATION of stereo equipment. The time has come for action and to those inconsiderate idiots who wanna keep thumpin'....go right ahead because sooner or later, "your time is gonna come".(great Zeppelin song by the way! lol)

The penelty for noisy music should be $ 200.00.
Average doctor visit is ( no insurance)$150.00
If you can afford loud speakers, good stereo and you can turn on loud radio - you can afford $ 200.00.
What I do, when sombody has a loud music - for example last Sunday - I stop the vehicle on red ligths - the next car has a loud music. Everybody closed the window. The another driver turn the radio louder and open all windows. I stop out of my car, walk on the side of the driver side door, stick my hand inside, removed the ignition key and took with me. Everyone around smile.
have nice day. No police, no report.
Just be smart and quick.

With all the violence, hunger and illness in the world, why are you so fixated on loud noise coming out of some idiot's car? Maybe you could find something better to do with your time and energy than fret over this.
I once felt sorry for you, now I just feel like you need some REAL problems.
#8 Apr 8, 2009
Do not worry about the illness and hunger around the World.
JUST WORRY ABOUT AMERICA.
If you do not agree with that, you can move where is the hunger and the violence. You will have to worry more than a loud music.
This country USA is only 200 years old, but we feed everybody. We do not ask anyone to solve our problems, just we do this inside, here in US.
#9 Apr 8, 2009
Um, how about the violence, hunger and illness here in the USA, Mark? Is it non-existent in your little bubble? Are you and yours safe, warm, healthy and well-fed every night, so the most important thing on your mind is Boomboxes? How fortunate for you and how ungrateful you must be. I do feel sorry for you, not because of the noise, but because you have no concept of how lucky you are.
#10 Apr 8, 2009
So, trespassing and theft are ok, but making too much noise is a crime? I wish you would stick your hand into my car! Nutjob.
#11 Apr 9, 2009
You are all idiots. I realize that there are great problems in this world, in our country and in OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. But when I can't sleep in the privacy of my own home, because of LAWBREAKERS, when my kids can't sleep, IN THE PRIVACY OF MY OWN HOME BECAUSE OF LAWBREAKERS, when I can't invite my in laws or parents over and have a nice dinner because we are constantly disturbed by LAWBREAKERS, I got a real problem with that. You're all assinine because you have no clue what goes on in my neighborhood, on a daily and nightly basis. This crap goes on, day after day, night after night, every single day and night, for YEARS now, without ever getting a night or day off! You are all idiots so my advice to you? Shut the hell up. I'm trying to keep my neighborhood from looking like and sounding like a damn ghetto. I pay high taxes in Roseville and my elected leaders want little to do to help citizens in my city about this ever growing epidemic. So again, shut the hell up, would ya? These idiots are breaking the law, what is it you're not understanding? They do it every day and every night. I logged 44 instances today and I shouldn't have to put up with LISTENING AND FEELING this crap on an every day basis. How about I come over to your house and blare my stereo and vibrate your windows and walls, all day, every day and all night? You stupid frickin' idiots. Don't you dare criticize me or the problems that are going on around my neighborhood. Just do us all a favor...when problems exist and persist, do what you do best, bend over and take it right up your ass, because I don't go for that.

What is wrong with you morons?
Are you oblivious to the disruption in our society when these assholes drive around disturbing the peace, totally disrespecting everyone else. Yeah try and tell them to turn it down, then the little weasels sneak back late at night like the little pussies they are, and damage your property.
That is the real issue, people who only care about themselves, narrow minded turds who jam their tunes, swear in front of little kids, smoke in tightly enclosed areas, or a number of other things that do not just affect themselves, but bleed into others personal space.
If what you are doing adversely affects many people in a negative way, then maybe it needs to be stopped or modified.
We have lost our ability to be courteous to others...its all mee meee meeeee!
Stupid noise and obscenity laws come into play when stupid people abuse it without regard to anyone but themselves! Way to go assholes!

Their noise is no less offensive than your profanity. You weaken your argument and alienate your audience whether your point is valid or not.
#14 Apr 14, 2009
You do not have to be sorry for me. I respect everyone, every American, young or Old. I know what is the Hunger. I was hungry and American people supported me 100%. I remember that very well and I'm doing this same thing for others. No hungry people should be here.
But - hunger has a nothing to do with the Boomboxes and noise. The hungry people do not walk or drive with boomboxes in the car or walk on the shoulders. They do not care about that.
When you hungry, you do not care about that.
Yes. You are correct - I'm lucky - because I'm here in USA and HAPPY. I work all day, support my familly, support my community and complaining about noise. VIVAT AMERICA.

You have the option to turn your head and not read his words. You don't have the option to turn your head and blank out the noise. His words don't infringe on your right to see but the loud noise does infringe on the rights to hear. It's that freakin simple.
#16 Apr 14, 2009
My point is well made, your response is proof of that.
Are we not adults here? So you are offended by my comments? Well you have the ability to not read them or take them with their intended level of "punch" in this topic. Either way, you have options, where as others do not when inconsiderate douche bags crank their lil jon, tupac, or eminem nonsense at decible levels far above the level of what is considered dangerous to ones health, not to mention a huge anoyance to others.
Now as far as my language weakening my argument, you sound a bit narrow to understand the depth of the severity of this problem, and how bad it bothers some people, hopefully my colorful metaphors get your attention.
Maybe you ought to simply stick to the topic, and stop trying to play forum watchdog mom.
Thank you and bite me!

Look, this issue is two fold...first and foremost, we have inconsiderate idiots who think they can do whatever they want, whenever they want and break the law. They are forcing us to not only listen to this crap, but they are forcing us to feel it as well. It is truly an invasion of our privacy, assaulting our senses, waking us up from a good nights sleep. They have no right to infiltrate my home with their sounds while blatantly and arrogantly breaking the law. The second part of this is the frustration with our local elected officials who are turning a deaf ear to residents complaining about this issue and problem. Our "leaders" don't want to be thrown out of office because they feel that they might be "stepping on toes" regarding this problem. They are assinine. People have complained for years and nothing is being done about it and it needs to be seriously addressed. Now. We need much higher fines and stricter penalties. WE need the laws enforced to it's fullest extent. If this all were done, we would not have the problem we have today and these punks would be silenced. You think for a minute that if some 18 year old punk would get a fine for $1,000 or have his stereo ripped right from his dashboard that he would ever do this again? Or a 30 year old big tough guy who thinks he's 18 and still cool??? I seriously doubt it. For more info, please write us at:

PLEASE ATTEND OUR RALLY PROTEST ON APRIL 28TH AT 6 P.M. AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE ROSEVILLE CIVIC CENTER, Common Road, just west of Gratiot.

And oh, if you're a Roseville resident who's sick and tired of being forced to listen to and feel this crap noise, please write your Senator, Mickey Switalski...he has steadfastedly said that he would NOT SUPPORT A BAN, or other penalties against noise ordinance violators, especially those idiots who drive around violating us in the privacy of our own homes! So, in other words, he refuses to support and protect the very people who voted him into office!
Please, click on this link to give Senator Switalski a piece of your mind:
Tell him to take action in our Michigan legislature to enact higher fines and penalties, including the confiscation of all stereo equipment! Tell him that HE WORKS FOR US!

It's funny how several people tried to defend their bad behavior by bringing up other issues. "Let's not pay attention to any laws that don't deal with hunger or violence". Pure genius...

Profanity is the effect of a weak mind trying to express itself mightily.
If the only way you can make a point is to inject profanity into your rhetoric then I stand by what I said. I absolutely hate those noisy cars but they are just another symptom of the ignorant, self-centered, immature, inconsiderate, morons like yourself who I run into every day. Nobody will take you seriously if you can't express yourself intelligently. Get a spell checker and drop the gutter language. You are trying to garner support for your cause but instead you are putting up barriers between yourself and the decent, considerate people who might otherwise join with you in your effort. You're welcome and you can bite yourself.

Just Thinking.....profanity is what it is....that's what happens when someone or people get really pissed off about an issue they feel strongly about. And what I feel strongly about is being able to sleep at night. What I feel strongly about is my family being able to sleep at night and not being FORCED awake every day and night. What I feel passionate and strongly about is how these asshole idiots who blare their stereos 40 or 50 times a day, stuffing their crap down my throat while they blatantly breaking noise ordinance laws. Profanity is just words, get over it. After nearly four years of fighting this crap and the city of Roseville, as well as every other community doing absolutely nothing about this problem, well, it tends to piss me off as well as thousands of other people.
I am POSITIVE, if someone ran up to your front door, every day at say, 3 a.m., rang your doorbell and pounded on your door and ran away, for years, you'd get pissed off. It's not fun. I'm tired of having a nice quiet dinner with my family interrupted by some asshat who thinks he's cool blaring and thumping his car stereo past my house, SEVERAL times. I'm tired of not being able to sleep at night. I'm tired of not being able to relax and watch a movie with my wife on a Friday night because about a dozen times some asshole has to thump his stereo. I'm tired of having my walls, windows and cabinets shake and vibrate. And I'm really tired about the inactivity of my government and their failure to protect decent, hard working tax paying citizens. These inconsiderate assholes have no right to violate me or my family or anyone else, in the privacy of our own homes! At any time!Look, if this happened a couple of times here and there, I could probably live with it. But it happens DOZENS UPON DOZENS of times, each and every day, each and every night, every night of the year, for almost four years now and the problem is getting worse. THERE IS NEVER A DAY OR NIGHT WHEN THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN! I don't get how the city of Roseville doesn't pull over every offender and pad their pocketbooks. RAISE THE DAMN FINES to $1,000, rip out the stereos of these asshat offenders as punishment and I guarantee you that the word will get around, QUICKLY. Take care of the problem. Not only has Roseville NOT DONE THIS, but the problem continues to escalate and I'm fed up. So are thousands of other people.
I know a couple of guys who have shot out windows of the offenders and although I don't condone violence, I get why they're doing it. I'd rather not see someone get hurt, but these inconsiderate idiots aren't getting the message and they continue to disrupt and disrespect everyone and anyone in their paths, and the sick thing is, they feel that they HAVE A RIGHT to do so.
So, get over the profanity, they're only words. What's going on in our neighborhoods and on our roads is far worse. Why don't YOU do something about it?
