We need to reduce property taxes in Utica. Has anyone thought about having Sterling Heights annex Utica? Utica's taxes are 40.7782 mills and Sterling Heights are 29.6895 mills.

Most definitely we are concerned about the rising taxes in the city of Utica. Our residential population is declining yet our commercial population continues to increase taxing further our City's resources and police department. Why is the City council not asing the commercial businesses to pay for the renovation of our police department? We as taxpayers are already taxed enough so much so that our current residents can no longer afford to live here. Homes are not selling because people can't afford to pay the taxes in our city. We should annex to Sterling Heights. They are also asking their residents to build new city buildings at a cost of alot less than Utica taxpayers will pay for their police station. Has the Government of Utica considered all the options? They must be accountable to the residents of Utica for how they are spending out tax dollars. Please respond if you are also concerned about the high taxes in Utica,Michigan.

The village is spending money inappropriately. Instead of building one common building for the fire dept., city offices they decide to build seperate buildings, why? When do we see our streets plowed in the winter time, the next day? Why? We pay a huge amount of taxes with very little support from the township, we definitely need a change in out town offices.

I moved to the city of utica in the summer of 2007. I purchased an apartment that had been converted to a condo. I live on a fixed income and had hoped to acquire some financial stability in this community. I have since discovered that this city is being run by people that think they can raise taxes without any justification for the increase. Last year they raised my assessed value and again this year, all at a time when property values in this state are declining. I tried to refinance my mortgage, but they told me I owe more than the property is worth. I will do anything to combat this situation. So if anyone has some ideas I'm willing to listen. Does anyone know how to acquire information on property taxes people are paying in this city especially the board that is assessing these values.

We are looking to buy in the Utica area. We found the perfect home and were ready to make an offer just after Christmas. Then we found out what the property taxes were. Now we have found a house in Shelby with much lower taxes. It is a shame Utica's property taxes are so high we would not even consider moving there. Everyone should at the very least be challenging their SEVs.

I think our taxes are very fair. Our services are outstanding. My snow removal is second to none. My daugther lives in Sterling Heights and their snow removal stinks.
