When each house has 40+ acres to go with it, it might make sense to let your dog run loose. But when we have a population density limited only by the occasional 5 acre minimum limit, it doesn't make sense to let dogs run any more.
4 times out of 5, when I see a young dog running loose on carpenter road, the next time I see that dog, it will be dead in the ditch. Also, some mis-guided city folk buy their kids puppies. When the puppy isn't cute any more or is too much trouble, they seem to think a "Good solution" is to let it loose on Carpenter Road. The 1 in 5 that survive are hard to tell apart from the 1 in 5 survivors that local folks let run loose. For the sake of the dog, please confine your dog! I have no desire to run over it or see someone else hit it. If you have a dog that isn't a puppy any more and is no longer wanted, please take it to an animal shelter! It's odds of surviving to old age will be much better there. |

If you can't successfully confine the dog, at least have a phone number on the collar so that he can find his way back home..... dead or alive.
