Woo Hoo I win a pack of crackers! Better start listening to the people who live here instead of blindly following administrators!

Ohio's school districts should really look into consolidating more. How many high schools, junior highs, and elementary schools are there per district? How much are the administration costs of each district?
What about taking Kent, Tallmadge, and Stow districts and make them one? Then, you have one set of administrators for three districts, probably freeing up at least a few hundred thousand a year.

School districts in the state of Ohio just don't get it.The residents have been bled dry for years now.We just don't have extra money to throw at the schools anymore.My wages have been frozen for over a year now.We've had to tighten our belts,now it's time for school disticts to do the same.Bet your glad you got that brand new high school.Youi can always hope that Keno will save the day.

It's too bad that people take no personal responsibility for ensuring a good education for those that live in the community. One of the biggest reasons people come to live in Tallmadge is for the schools-I know that is why we just bought our house. My education was paid for by the taxpayers in my community and in turn that is what I will do for my community. Shame on those of you who will not eek out $211 a year spread over 12 months. Too bad you are too selfish to give up a little to make a big difference. Times are tough every where, I get it. But its $200-Gimme a break.

Another tax failure for Stow. When are you going to get it??? This is the fourth tax levy failure. Homeowners don't have the additional funds to pay for your school district. Everyone has to live within their means and maintain a budget and that includes the school districts.

It will be back in November, hopefully to fail. It may only be $211 I can not go to my employer and ask for 200 more dollars. "But it is only $200 a year spread over 12 months." That will not fly. Work with what you have. Create larger classrooms, etc. Depending on the Presidential election results in November, it may be years before the people will vote for a tax increase. We are being taxed to death.

No wonder kids these days don't understand what the word "no" means.

Will you pass our levy?
No.

...A few months later...

Will you pass our levy?
No.

...A few months later...

Will you pass our levy?
No.

Would they, as parents, put up with their kids asking and asking and asking until they get a different answer?

The people of Tallmadge like myself by a majority vote of 55% have told you once again we do not want to pay more property taxes. This is the 3rd time we told you NO.

What don't you understand Tallmadge School Board & Superintendent? We can not afford to continue to pay the high real estate taxes and live in Tallmadge. We have gas, food, and utilities to pay too that are going through the roof. Your $211 a year increase is wrong. The average home in Tallmadge is $150,000 so it would be more like $315 a year increase.

Bring on the November vote. That one too will be a NO. Wouldn't it be better to relook at the budget, and balance it to match your projected income down the road? The number of kids in the system are going down and you will need lots less staffing. Have Mary Taylor do that audit I have been telling you to do to help find more cost savings opportunites like she did Springfield. As for pay to play, all day kindergarten, and no high school busing, I say let them pay, pay, and walk.

Thank you Tallmadge citizens for saying NO once again.

Pull your head out, its 200 a year now, in 2 years they will ask for more, add another 200, then in 4 years they will ask for more, that's another 200, those tax increases dont go away. People are tired of paying out their hard earned money for a bunch of selfish parents and kids. Get a clue, ithe tax increases wont go away.

When they want to start cutting the salaries of the administartors, have pay to play all across the board and not have a principal for every grade in the high school, then maybe we'll see their 'plight' as an "emergency." They have to tighten their belts just like the rest of us. I've raised four kids in Stow and used to vote yes for every levy, no more. I've seen the waste, the money is not for kids, at least not most of it.

It's people like YOU who do not get it. It's amazing how many uneducated folks comment about school levies and spew the same old BS that's been said time and time again for decades. Even though they have NO relevance.
School districts do not have a choice. Until the way Ohio fixes its' method of funding schools, it will continue to get worse. But Strickland is working on it. Unlike his incompetent predecessor.
This is wrong on soooo many levels.
Every other indusrty, when having fewer dollars to work with, must spend less. As another taxpayer said earlier, when OUR costs go up, we don't get to go to our bosses and say, "Give me more money." We have to work within our budget, and we don't get to go to voters twice a year to try and get bailed out.
It's time for people to realize just how much teachers are paid. They get a ton. Having an extra kid in the classroom doesn't hurt a kid's education in the slightest.

Your statements ring true. People can't afford more new property taxes. Until Strickland comes up with his 21st century funding plan, this No voting will be repeated over and over again.

Hey MORON, the schools don't have a choice. OMG is the typical moronic voter.
<quoted text>
Then move. If you can't afford to live AND support the district you live in, then move to Akron where it's more affordable for deadbeats like you.
<quoted text>
And the schools don't, moron?
<quoted text>
HEY DIPSH-T -- the $211/year increase is for a $100k house. So, do the math. Oh wait, you can't because you just said it was wrong, when it was not wrong. You're just an idiot.
Nobody likes paying more in taxes, but if morons/deadbeats like you are going to live in suburbs like Tallmadge and Stow, which are known for having an excellent school system, then you have a duty to support the school system. If deadbeats like you aren't going to support the school district, then you should move to a district with a less than stellar school system.
Deadbeats/losers like you tick me off because you want to live in a city like Tallmadge and Stow, but yet refuse to pay for such reasons why cities like these are nicer than, say the Falls.
You're a loser. Move to Cleveland -- where idiots like you belong and deserve.
I don't know about your math, but $150000/$100000 = 1.5 times $211 is $316.5. Grump's math works for me.

Luckily, things will work out well and you'll be pleased with the way you handled everything.
