I know that people move in to a small town and try to make friends quickly depending on their needs for social interaction, but who in the world thought that leaving this young lady in the charge of a perfect stranger was a good idea?

I doubt it was unknown that he spent time in jail for 10 months just last year by SOMEONE. If it was unknown, then he was clever, and no one knew him extremely well and he wanted it that way.

It's amazing to me how brutal someone can be to anyone, but even more amazing that parents would leave their daughter in the charge of someone that they barely knew. One more reason why we need to hold our children close no matter their ages, and make them understand that, regardless of how old they are, they are susceptible to the misdeeds and intentional harm of others.

I am by no means blaming the parents for this malicious murder of their child. This is a devastating time for them with the loss of their daughter. I would just like to reach out to those parents who have thought about leaving their child(ren) in the charge of casual aquaintances and encourage them to think twice about it.

We have enough issues with our children being left in our public schools, and with people we know and trust, that the possibility that an unfortunate circumstance may occur. Why increase the odds of misfortune with doing so with a casual aquaintance?

As parents we only hope for the best for our children. We have wishes that they grow up happy, healthy and even, one day, as parents of wonderful children of their own. We, however, cannot simply live sublime lives and think that this will occur without certain safeguards for their safety and well being.

My heartfelt sympathy to the family of Hope Norman, and best of luck for swift prosecution of such an animal as Morris.

If the family is looking for answers to this horrific crime, they need to begin by questioning themselves. WHY DID THEY LEAVE THIS GIRL WITH A MAN KNOWN ONLY TO HER UNCLE????THE MOTHER AND THE DAUGHTER DID NOT KNOW HIM.
You want answers, ask her "mother"

No, it is our mistake. We are not demanding that our children be protected. We are not screaming in the streets about criminals being turned loose on us.

Be prepared. JSO is implementing a plan to return 'violent, repeat offendors' back to us, society. I don't see anyone screaming about that. Better get on the phone and call EVERYONE!.

I agree! The fault really lies with the mother. Who in the world leaves their 16 yr old daughter, drunk, with strangers? Why did Mr. Morris' wife leave him alone with this girl knowing he was hitting on her? I believe that neglect charges should be filed against both women. This is insane. What is wrong with people? The mother was out drinking and her daughter's safety was the last thing on her mind!!!!!!!!!! It just angers me!!!!!
