THE STATE NEEDS TO PUT HIM BEHIND BARS FOR LIFE. IF THE STATE WOULD LOCK UP DRUG CRIMINALS FOR LIFE THERE WOULD BE LESS DRUGS ON THE STREET. THE SYSTEM PATS THEM ON THE BACK AND SAYS SEE YA NEXT TIME BUDDY. ARREST A WORKING MAN AND HE ACCUSSED OF EVERYTHING !

I DON'T DEFEND WHAT DR. LARRY FRIEDES WAS ACCUSED OF. DOCTORS MAY BE PART OF THE PROBLEM, BUT FAR FROM ALL OF IT. IT TAKES A LOT TO BECOME A DOCTOR. ONE HAS TO LOOK CLOSELY AT WHY A PERSON WHO WENT THRU ALL OF THE SCHOOLING AND CERTIFICATIONS WOULD RISK THEIR DIGNITY AND FREEDOM BY REDUCING THEMSELVES TO SUCH A LEVEL. PART OF THE ANSWER IS THE TERRIBLE PRESSURE DOCTORS ARE CONSTANTLY UNDER. THIS GOES FROM MALPRACTICE INSURANCE TO MEDICAL INSURANCE COMPANIES AND FAR FAR BEYOND INTO THE LAYERS OF OUR GOVERNMENT. BETWEEN THE STRESSES OF BEING A DOCTOR AND TRYING TO GET PAID FAIRLY FOR ALL OF THE HOURS AND RISK (NOT BY THE PATIENT BUT BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY) DOCTORS HAVE A ROUGH ROAD TO GO. I HAVE HAD SOME SERIOUS MEDICAL CHALLENGES AND HAVE HAD MY FAIR SHARE OF DOCTORS AND SURGERIES. THINGS ARE SO TOUGH ON THE DOCTORS AS FAR AS LIABILITY IS CONCERNED. THEY PASS THIS ON TO THE PATIENT. THERE ARE COUNTLESS PAPERS TO SIGN, THINGS TO AGREE TO AND INSURANCE COMPANIES TO FIGHT BEFORE YOU CAN GET A LIFE SAVING SURGERY FOR AN ILLNESS. MAYBE THIS DOCTOR HAD TOO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY IN HIS PRIVATE LIFE. PERHAPS HE WAS TAKING CARE OF HIS FAMILY INCLUDING A TERMINALLY ILL IN-LAW, ANOTHER WITH DEVELOPMENTAL CHALLENGES, A WIFE, CHILDREN AND PHYSICAL PROBLEMS OF HIS OWN THAT CAUSED SEVERE PAIN ... THIS HASN'T BEEN GOING ON FOREVER. I KNOW THIS DOCTOR. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE HE WENT WRONG? HE WAS ALWAYS ONE OF THE KINDEST AND MOST COMPASSIONATE HUMAN BEINGS I HAVE EVER KNOWN. IT IS NOT JUST THE DOCTOR THAT WILL SUFFER, BUT HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN AND THE REST OF HIS ALREADY BURDENED FAMILY. IF HE DID THIS, HE DID WRONG. BUT WHATEVER TURNED THIS FINE MAN INTO SOMEONE SITTING IN A JAIL CELL SHOULD BE LOOKED AT CLOSELY. PRESSURE IS THE EPIDEMIC THAT IS CAUSING PEOPLE TO WANT TO ESCAPE INTO SUBSTANCE USE. PLEASE HEAR ME ... WE NEED TO LOOK CLOSER AT THE PRESSURES EVERYONE IS UNDER TODAY. NOW OUR GOVERNMENT HAS BLESSED THE OPEN BORDERS FOR TRUCKERS FROM MEXICO. DON'T YOU THINK A SEMI CAN CARRY MORE DRUGS THAN A MAN? THIS IS TO SAY NOTHING OF WHO ELSE CAN CROSS OUR BORDERS. HOMELAND SECURITY??? IN CONCLUSION, I AM NOT DEFENDING WHAT DR. FRIEDES MAY HAVE DONE. I AM PAINTING HIM AS A HUMAN BEING. IN THIS GUNG-HO RELIGIOUS WORLD ... WHERE IS THE FORGIVENESS, THE UNDERSTANDING AND THE HARD LOOK INTO WHAT MAKES A MAN (OR A WOMAN) BREAK AND RISK IT ALL. IN THIS CASE, I KNOW IT WAS NOT PERSONAL GREED. PLEASE SAY A PRAYER FOR DR. FRIEDES AND HIS FAMILY.

I find it incredible that you can post such a cruel comment about someone who i am certain you have never met before. Did you know the circumstances of Dr.Friedes's crimes? Did you know him personally and understand what could have driven him to this point?
Larry Friedes is one of the most brilliant and personable men i have ever met, and it was a multidude of factors that drove him to stoop to the level he did. Sure, he may have committed the felonies with which the state has charged him, but that gives you no right to say that he should be placed behind bars for life simply because of his high status within the medical community. Are you saying that a lower-class citizen should be able to get away with the same crimes committed by Dr.Friedes?

I can only hope that the more ignorant in this world would become educated on topics before speaking as if their opinions were the only ones of value and worth.

LARRY FRIEDES' MOTHER DIED ON APRIL 15TH. THIS WAS A TRAGEDY IN MORE WAYS THEN ONE. HER FUNERAL WAS OVERWHELMING WITH THANKS, TALK AND TESTIMONIALS FROM ALL OF THE PEOPLE SHE HAD "STOOD BEHIND WITH A WILLING EAR AND HEART FOR YEARS". HER JOB AS A CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER EXTENDED TO HER DAILY LIFE AND FRIENDS. MANY CLAIMED TO BE "LIKE A SISTER TO HER" OR HER "BEST FRIEND". SHE UNDERSTOOD WHAT TRULY HAPPENED TO HER SON AND HOW HE GOT INTO THE POSITION HE IS IN. HER EVERY BREATH WAS DEDICATED TO GETTING HIM OUT OF JAIL AND INTO A REHAB WHILE HIS CASE IS PROGRESSING. HER "BEST FRIENDS" HAVE BEEN SILENT SINCE HER DEATH. I BELIEVE THERE IS MORE AFTER THIS WORLD AND I BELIEVE THAT LARRY'S MOTHER WOULD BE BROKEN HEARTED AT THE LACK OF SUPPORT FOR HER CAUSE, GETTING HELP FOR HER SON. JAILING PEOPLE WITHOUT COUNSELING OR EVALUATION IS PRIMITIVE AND SERVES NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO BURDEN THE TAXPAYER. PEOPLE CAN BE REHABILITATED AND CAN BE USEFUL TO SOCIETY. SOMEONE NEEDS TO REDEFINE "PUNISHMENT" AND STUDY THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS PRACTICE. PUNISH AND RELEASE OR REHAB AND RELEASE? WHICH DO YOU THINK IS BETTER FOR SOCIETY?

CARL, IF THEY LOCKED UO DRUG CRIMINALS FOR LIFE YOUR TAXES BURDEN WOULD BE SO HIGH YOUR LIFE WOULD BE AFFECTED DRAMATICALY.E ARE NOT SET UP TO WAREHOUSE PEOPLE. THERE ARE SOME WITH PATHOLOGIES THAT RENDER THEM A DETREMENT TO SOCIETY. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO CANNOT BE REHABILITATED TO A POINT WHERE THEY CAN BE USEFUL IN SOCIETY. HOWEVER, THERE ARE MANY WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM REHABILATION AND TRAINING IN A SKILL. DR FRIEDES IS A HGHLY INTELLIGENT PERSON WHO MADE SOME SERIOUS MISTAKES. HE HAS VALUABLE TALENTS AND SKILLS AND WITH HELP AND RE-DIRECTION HE CAN CONTRIBUTE A LOT TO SOCIETY. PLEASE READ THE REST OF MY POSTS SO THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE HIS CASE AND THE CASES OF MANY LIKE HIM. HE IS BEING TREATED AND REGARDED FAR WORSE THAN "THE WORKING MAN" YOU REFER TO. DOCTORS ARE NOT GODS, HOWEVER THEY ARE EXPECTED TO LIVE UP TO A HIGHER STANDARD THAN EVERYONE ELSE.

Sorry about the type o's in my above post. The whole situation is extremmely upsetting (to put it mildly). I guess I was sloppy. I try to make my posts linear and coherrent. This is not just about Larry Friedes. It is about a system that doesn't work! The whole "MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCING" issue needs to be reexamined! Just as our fingerprints and DNA are unique to us, so are circumstances that surround every case. "MMS" takes power away from the judges. It puts a large blanket of "sameness" over all cases that fall within it's power! The point of "MMS" seems to have been to eliminate any DISPARITY in sentencing practices. Thus, a person who is a career criminal with no values and no conscience and with with nothing tangible to contribute to society gets the same sentence as the person who could be rehabilitated and contribute greatly to society. This is not to say that the career criminal should not be rehabilitated. "MMS" makes no sense on any level. It does not permit a judge to explore the potential of a person and any mitigating factors that could affect sentencing. It just automatically burdens the prison system. Look up FAMILIES AGAINST MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCING. This is America! Let's protect our rights and the rights of others. Look into it before you pass judgement on this post! We were founded as a Christian Nation. Christianity speaks of forgiveness. You see so many high profile people ranting on about morality and God. Let's practice what we preach! This was definitely not linear, as promised ... but I bring forth some valid points. What if your child made a mistake and fell into the "MMS" trap? What would you be thinking? It could happen to anyone. It really could!

i acually was in jail with the doctor a year ago and his co-defendant william normoyle for about 8 months.they are not bad people.william normoyle happens to have started cheaters lounge and rockets sports bar.he was a sucessful man along with the doc.william normoyle was a dear friend of mine before all this and would help anyone who needed it.he never took any drugs.the man doesnt even smoke ciggerettes.he created rockets sports bar for people to have a fun place to go and to have many chances to make friends.he was a sports lover but when his sports bar was being closed because of an underage girl with a fake id he had no other choice but to resort to drug selling to keep his dream alive.the doc was a good friend of his and introduced him to what he acually just started doing and that was selling hydrocodone.the underage girl used the fake id to get into the bar to drink and ended up driving home and got into a wreck and died.he cried over the girl because if he would have known he would have never let her in.i dont care what anyone says about him but i have acually met him and he is a dear friend of mine.i call him my uncle.the doctor had a charge for traffing cocaine too but to my knowledge it was let by the informant, that by the way was not a police officer but a user himself.he lied and made up 7 different stories about the charges on the doc and william.the police hired someone to bring the doc and william down no matter what.well they brought them down because an informant lied.drugs were never sold to the informant.the government wants to put people behind bars so they make much more money...not only from taxes but also from prisons.they dont pay for you to be there.the prisons pay them for working and more.in duval county jail if you are sentanced the state makes $237 dollars a day you are there.imagine that why dont you.i agree with beejay on everything.to me he sounds like a smart man that acually looks into things before he makes an opinion.unlike carl,i would like to say fuck you.i was in jail about to get 35 years for burlary.IT WAS MY LEGAL RESIDENCE!i left 2 weeks prior and came back to get my stuff from my ex fiance [with a key].she was not there so i got my stuff and left.then the cops show up and arrest me for stealing $25,000 dollars in stuff that was all mine!she lied to the state and gave false information.if it wasnt for her being cought in many lies and a polygraph test then i would be doing 35 years to life for nothing.the point is if you dont know what happened or if you were not there then keep your opinion to your damn self.maybe one day when you go to jail because a women said she told you "no" but didnt and they give you 35 to life then you will understand.or maybe a case of mistaken identity, maybe someone odesnt like you and makes a story up to incriminate you.if you think the law catches these things all the time and it wont happen to you then think again.next time dont post that they should put some of my best friends in jail for one mistake.to everyone else...i thank you for reading and sorry about the language use but the guy has made me very upset.if you have any questions or concerns please dont hesitate to contact me at:timothy1152@live.com
thank you,
timothy

Timothy -

I'm sure you're a nice guy, but you have been duped by Bill Normoyle, just as most people that ever knew him. I started Rocket's with him, and was there all day, every day for the first few months it was in business, and I lived with Bill for awhile, too. He was a drug dealer BEFORE Rocket's, and I smoked crack with him every day for months, so please don't defend this piece of crap. He is a lying, cheating predator, and I know of what I speak. I wish you the best, but may Normoyle ROT in jail.

Just what the Doctor ordered, another person with an excuse of why, what, when & where.

You, I , Doctor, Lawyer, Judge, President, breaking the law. Is breaking the law.

Everybody has a tale of the pressures they where under, and the stress that kept mounting day after day. Financial problems, sexual problems, girlfriend/boyfriend martial problems.

Isn't that the norm for an everyday drug user or dealer?

If it is okay for this Doctor to have an 'excuse', then shouldn't murders and rapist, and any other criminal be able to claim the same? What about the drunken driver that was just so stressed from work that in his/her drunken stupor on the way home ran over a innocent person & killed or maimed them for life.
Please give ME a break.
How stupid does one person believe society can be?

You all need to get your facts str8 b4 you do talk about people!! deep down Bill and the Doc are good people they just had a problem and didn't know when to stop, they are both learning a very big lesson now and I am sure that they are very sorry for all that they hurt during that time. Bill was a great friend who wanted to change in a bad way but could never seem to get away from it.

Forget the drug charges, he should face felony "lookin-like-a-freak " charges that should keep him behind bars for life.
