“There's always a chance. If the prisoners get out, it's going to be -- where are they going to come? They're going to come this way. They're going to come steal our cars. They're going to come. It doesn't feel safe”

I understand how parents would feel out of control concerning protecting thier children. But at the same time, Where is the jail located now? the middle school isn't very much further from the present jail than what the new one will be. It isn't that far from the very people that are saying "not in my back yard."i don't know of anyone complaining about where the jail is now.
I am not trying to candy coat the issue, but what is the alternative? tear down the existing jail and build in its place, then where would you house the present prisoners? move outside the city limits, what is the political and financial fall out of that (city water and sewage).
Don't be to quick to judge the cover, without reading what is beyond the cover. I think a lot of good can come from this. our county is growing and we have to ready to grow with it.
