This murderer does not deserve the chance to get another trial, he does not even deserve to b alive on this earth. The death penalty would of been the ultimate punishment in this CRIME.

I have looked over Ms. Phillips various sites in her son's defense, I find it a slap in the face to the Clifton's and every single person who has lost a child to a murder, especially a brutal, painful murder .. one that took time thought, time to carry out. This little monster pulled her back out from the waterbed to finish killing her after he initially "washed up"... stabbing her in the neck ( over 9 stab wounds on her chest and neck) she was found with no pants or underwear on... come on a new trial... this is open and shut. Ms Phillips and anyone who has any sympathy for this monster of a person must have a very distorted, uncaring mind. How dare Ms. Phillips to try and find loop holes in the justice system to free her monster from prison. This kid deserved the death penalty, so Ms. Phillips should just be happy her son has LIFE.. somthing that little Maddie Clifton no longer has due to her offspring.

God Bless the Clifton family. May Maddie rest in peace.

On a different note, I saw where Maddie's sister is a Roar cheerleader. Pretty girl. It's a shame that Maddie's murder tore the family apart. Mom and Dad divorced due to the stress (so I hear). That being said, I would need someone by my side who understood my pain...But, then again, I have never gone through anything like that..........

Blessedly, I am not the same person I was at the age of 14. If I were, I would be a threat to the nation. As it is, much older, I am a contributing member of society and have been for a long time. I don't care what somebody does when they are 14, they shouldn't be killed and they should not be locked up forever. All kids need to be cherished, even those who do really bad things for whatever non comprehensible reason. Those of you who cannot understand this basic tenant, despite your advanced years, are sick, and I really don't want to be around you because YOU scare me.

IMHO, this is in his DNA. A CHILD does not commit that sort of a crime!! What if we let him out and he commited a like crime? Would we as a society be held responsible? You better believe it! People would be calling for the judge's head. Don't deny it. Glad it wasn't your child.

Would I agree to, if he was released, marry MY daughter. Not! Would I let him around MY grands? NOT! Would I trust him in ANY way, shape or form? NOT! DNA says it all. Bad seed. Some people are just born that way. Why does he deserve a 2nd chance? To possibly re-commit? Maybe you could take him in. Up for that? Honestly, would YOU trust him around your family?

I usually think even children should get harsh punishments if they committed a crime but for some reason I hope Joshua gets a second chance. Read up on hope rippey, Karla homolka. Pleaseeee read up on mary beth and so many more I can go on about. There's psycho evil people who get out in a few years who seem clearly evil. This boy in my opinion did a horrendous thing but I for some reason think it was out of stupidity rather than evil. For some reason I see true remorse. Life without parole is ridiculous for a boy so young. I think he deserves a second chance at least somewhere down the line.

Hello,
I would like to give some input i as a father to two beautiful daughters and have watched some of this story unfold. I personally think at this young mans age he had no clue of what he was doing im sure he is filled with mental problems being that he done so much harm to this lil lady. Even grown men could not do what he done !!! I for one think he should be getting counsiled while in prison and maybe in the future over turn his conviction. After a long term prison stay he should be released to the public again maybe when he is 30. I do not know either familes but im sure if they got together they would find some kind of middle ground. Maybe even have both sides of the family visit this young man in prison to maybe get some kind of closure. I did see how bad this crime harmed the off springs of her family and i do believe she could use some closure for herself as well without the public making her decisions. god bless you guys and her fmaily OBAMA 08
No clue what he was doing... Are you high???? He beat a child with a ball bat... Stabbed her... Placed her under his mattress and slept there for a week.... You're an idiot.
