Joshua Phillips does not deserve a new trial. I am so sick of people portraying him as a victim...because what victim sleeps on top of a decomposing body?

they had piece on FCN 11 last night. 90% of it was a boo-hoo fest with Josh's mom, 10% Maddie's family.. Give me a break, they should have castrated and fed him his nuts already

I saw the coverage also and it was pathetic. Joshua's mom saying her son deserves to be on the "outside" because he reads and has educated himself, and should get a chance to go on to college.
He does not deserve a second chance. Maddie is gone FOREVER amd will never get the chance to go to college, be a wife, a mom, or anything because of this scumbag's actions. Rot in jail Joshua!

What Joshua did was wrong, but there are plenty of other criminals in the system that have done worse and they are elgible for parole. Yes he did murder a innocent 8 year old girl and hid her under his bed. But he has to live with what he did and noone on this earth has the right to pass judgement, God has not given anyone that priviledge. Can anyone being a parent say that they would not feel like his mother does? We may not like what our child has done but that does not change our love for our child.

If it was your 8 year old there would be noway in hell you would type what you just wrote. If someone in my family turned out tob a sick mofo I guarentee it would be no problem for me not to love them anymore and I would not want that person to have a second chance. Is it about being politically correct or over sympathetic to a low life murder?

If no one has the right to pass judgement then why do we have courts with judges?

There are people out of jail that have committed murder after doing half there sentence .It is to bad because these criminals usually repeat the act whether its robberry, murder ,rape ,molestation, fraud well you get the picture.

God gave us a brain and free will and we make decisions all the time based on our own judgement but maybe satan made him do it.

He lied for a week and at the same time was sleeping on top of the dead girl's body. That's more than just losing it during playtime and brutally killing Maddie "because she was making too much noise." That is what he told police finally when explained why he stabbed her so many times after he cut her throat. He needs to stay locked up and the bleeding hearts need a reality check.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you do not need to get nasty.

You are probably right about if it was my child that was brutally murdered so I do not have any right to say that he should not be judged, I apologize to everyone that was offended by what I wrote.

You have every right, just like everyone else, to state your opinion here. I don't think his mom will ever stop loving him, that's what being a mother is all about, unconditional love. But, I also think, that she will have to love him while he stays behind bars for the rest of his life.
Joshua thought of no one but himself on that day, not Maddie or his own family. I feel sorry for his mom. She has lost a son and a husband because of this horrific act. If I remember correctly, her husband was killed in a car wreck coming home from visiting Joshua in jail.
And I also feel sorry for Maddie's family, who have lost a beautiful young girl. Joshua is the only person to blame, and I feel no sympathy for him.
