Erasing Forrest Name is not school diversity....
First Lady Michelle Obama gave an address to a Topeka, Kan High School. In it she said school districts across the nation have "pulled back" on efforts to integrate even as schools are becoming less diverse. She said, "As a result, many young people in America are going to school largely with kids who look just like them." It appears this Duval County school board and especially superintendent Vitti, have done pitifully little to improve the diversity or the performance of Duval County Schools. Instead, by embracing activists, ignoring community stakeholder survey results and believing false reports that donors would fund the name change; the board clearly achieved one result..... they made angry the over 30,000 Forrest Alumni by erasing their Alma Mater. Perhaps there are some on the school board that would say, we are stamping out bigotry. It is a hollow victory for any school board member to think that erasing the Forrest High name made real less bigotry. The name change has become another brick in the path of coddling to the me-me attitudes of students and activists with an entitlement perspective. It would have taken a lot of resources and dedication to embrace diversity, enrichment, and high performance at Forrest High. That didn't happen. Decades of neglect can't be made right by changing the name of the school. Furthermore, this school board has tainted the name of thousands of Forrest Alumni by attacking the name of Forrest High. The racial hypersensitivity that motivated the name change has not been appeased, it has become emboldened. Some of the Forrest High Alumni are speaking out.... they must.... what happened was just wrong. Should Michelle Obama be invited to speak at Westside High next year, her message won't be accolades of high achievement nor of a school becoming more diverse. She might point to a community more divided, while accurate, she would have to include that it was a consequence of the superintendent and school board's actions.

If changing the name of a school or anything else means nothing, then why did the Bush administration and republican congress go on a campaign to call french fries freedom fries when France didn't back the US invasion of Iraq?

Hahahaha ... cause the French fry in USA distilled peanut oil. Georgia grows lots of peanuts. Wouldn't want to make Georgia senators unhappy when they are pimping Obama.nation wettbakkkk immigration policy. Who they gonna get to clean sh*t outa south-Georgia chicken-coupes?
