The question should be is.. What are the insurance companies doing with all the money they make because of the phoney predictions.. I bet much of the money could be traced back to the corrupted FL legislature and that bald headed never worked a day in his life scumbag of a governor that we have..

"The forecasting team from Colorado State University predicted nine hurricanes would develop, while the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said there would be seven to 11 hurricanes."

No accurate prediction possible because of the **butterfly** effect.

Hurricanes (path/intensity etc) depend in a **non-linear** way on basic temperature, pressure and moisture variables. Small changes = HUGE effects.

If you put up enough tall physical sensors then their density would be sufficient to alter airflow & queer local-results prediction away from theory. Dammmed if you do, dammmed if you don't.

Seems the hurricane predictions are **lousy** even granting that caveat. As you suggest they may well be "bent" by insurance companies who (honestly?) when writing policy have no way of truly estimating risk!

People act evil (see St Paul). Bytch Gaia is evil incarnate ... sez me.

dolander, dolander, dolander Let us follow the power and money trail, to why the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( A Government Agency) has consistently missed on predictions.

1. Global warming validation; We have been told that More and BIGGER hurricanes are caused by global warming and global warming can only be solved by Government, which means more money taken from the private sector and “invested”(ROTLMAO!!!!) by government for government.

2. Insurance; the government has made laws at both federal and local levels that force Insurance companies to keep large amounts of finances available for high cost of insurance claims. The Federal Government also dictates how those monies are invested by the private sector. Would it surprise you dolander that those Government Approved methods always benefit Government. So again Government is taking more money from the private sector the law.

3. Preservation of self; Those who run the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( A Government Agency) most justify their very well-funded government jobs and keep the monies flowing in for more research and better models. I am not sure lower numbers of Hurricanes help justify more Government spending.

So ask yourself dolander who has the most to gain by creating a crisis each spring? THE GOVERNMENT!

Are you saying it's better that insurance companies do **NOT** keep available large sums of money for flood/storm damage ? That lack would strike me as irresponsible and unbalanced --- as insurance subscribers need to make their **payments** exactly on-time, while their post-hurricane needs will be **very** time sensitive. What "insured" family wants to live in a tent for 8 months ?

Suppose your dental insurance funded dental work only 6-months after a tooth started to hurt or health-care funded cardiac care treatment only 6 weeks after a heart-attack! Insurance companies are natural-born-p*icks and *zzwholes, and would delay payment for as long as they could.

History teaches the Gub'mnt needs to **squeeze** blood outa their bones (flog and jail a few CEOs) for satisfactory performance.

But the republican FL legislature appoints the insurance commissioner who dictates the rates....

This problem started when Jeb Bush eliminated the election of the insurance commissioner by the public...

There is a reason why FL has the highest rates in the country and its not because of hurricanes..

I didn't know that. Likewise northern cosmopolitans **hate** public election of judges. Anyrate never was a fan of J. Bush ... or his Saudi-lubbing brother.
