Said to be bill requiring that .7 of our GNP be given to U.N. to distribute to poorer countries; originally brought up by Obama when in senate; Senator Coburn said to be trying to block this bill. I think that our congress ought not to be handing over this kind of power to the U.N. Those fighting against this act are worried about the U.S. handing over too much power to the U.N. which may eventually lead to the U.N. taking control over even more aspects of our lives, thus gradually weakening the sovereignty of this country. We all know what a great job (?) the U.N. always does and I am looking forward (?) to the day when this country does give up more and more of its sovereignty. That way all of our soldiers can stay home because there won't be a country to fight for! I am plumb worn out from all the excitement (jumping up and down) over all this wonderful (?) CHANGE with more to come. We haven't even gotten to the part yet where Obama said that he wants a national security force just as strong and powerful as our military (YouTube). Who is going to make up that national security force? Will it be ACORN which as we all know is above reproach or will it be PAID Xe employees? |

Global Poverty Act
Source: Wikipedia "The Global Poverty Act was a bill in the U.S. Congress. The bill was co-sponsored by 84 representatives and 30 senators." "The Global Poverty Act would require the U.S. President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day. This would require the United States to add 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product (14 Trillion Dollars GNP) 980 Billion Dollars to its overall spending on Humanitarian Aid. This bill has been endorsed by The Borgen Project, Habitat for Humanity, Bread for the World, RESULTS and CARE." "The bill passed the Foreign Affairs Committee in July. It has not been scheduled for a vote on the Senate floor." $$$$$$$$$$ I have a suggestion. Since the U.S. is now broker than broke, a debtor nation living off a credit card loaned to us from China primarily, why don't we talk China into bypassing us and just giving that money directly to the poor countries. Does that $980 billion (almost $1 trillion dollars) have to pass from China to the U.S. and then to those countries so that we can be stuck with the bill? This country has always helped out other countries of its own free will. The problem is that so much money that the U.S. has tried to send to help out ordinary people just doesn't get there in many places. There is so much corruption at the top of their governments which is one reason why many in other countries are suffering. |
