Where have Jackson's mother and father been? See they invested in 'bling' for his ears! Know that will serve him well in prison!!

Rather than whining and complaining, when will these folks start listening to Bill Cosby, and start fulfilling their obligations as parents?? These same folks will end up in the courthouse -- crying and carrying on -- when this kid is sentenced. AS A RESULT OF HIS PARENT'S TOTAL FAILURE AS PARENTS, on kid is dead, and their son's future is ruined!

Pretty pathetic folks -- and the parents have zero excuses. They need to look in the mirror to see the problem!

He was not scared when he picked up a guy and killed someone. We see the same faces just about everyday. See the ones who killed the old man in the home invasion? Death and jail means nothing. You would think they think it is an honor to kill someone and go to prison. They have no fear. Maybe some fear should be put into them. Then maybe it would change.

Where does it say the shots were pointed up in the air???? The article I read said "Police said Burroughs was standing on the side of a street when two cars drove by and shots were fired. Burroughs was shot three times and was taken to Grady". I don't know about you, but the odds that someone is hit by 3 bullets falling from the sky are about "1 in I can't count that high"!!! This kid was shooting at someone. Maybe not the victim, but definitely someone.

its so funny how these little punks think their tough when they get a gun. Then they end up in jail for the duration. If you have beef with someone (99% of the time its over something stupid) and you think you're a bad arse, ball those fists up and go at it! Anyone who has a finger ANYONE, can pull a trigger. You bad? Ball em up and pound on each other. Live with the pain of a broken nose and broken knuckles and black eyes and grow from it. Realize you don't like that pain and it is reserved for defending your family, your home and your property. Your life is over at 16! You will probably be in prison 4 or 5 times longer than you were able to enjoy sunshine. FOOL!! Hope it was worth it. Where are your friends now??

Cross fire doesn't mean "bullets shot up in the air". It means that someone was shooting a gun at someone/something, and an innocent person was hit by accident. I said it before, they may not have been shooting at this bystander, but they WERE shooting at someone!!! How naive you must be. It sounds as if you have an "oh well, this is just what happens on the streets" type of attitude. In cases like this, it always seems that someone has "friends" that "live next door, or across the street" that saw how it really went down. Funny, I haven't seen any interviews with any witnesses saying this was just an accident. "Just some young boys, coming home from church, shooting at some cans on the side of the road, accidentally hitting an innocent person three time, killing them". Tragic accident, that's all it was.

Whatever!!!

Much younger???? What, pre-school?? This kid just got caught up in the "life of a gangsta" mentality that alot of the youth today are caught in. They feel invulnerable, like they can do anything, and prison no longer scares them. When you're part of a gang, and you go to prison, you have all your "hommies" in their with you, so most of the time it's better than being on the outside. This kid was never going to make it to college, and become a doctor who cures cancer. He felt that prison was a better alternative, which is the sad part. If we want our youth to stop all of this nonsense, they have to be afraid of the consequences of their actions. Nowadays, the penalties are nothing. Three squares, TV time, a free education...prison probably isn't so bad to some people, depending on their situation.
I don't want to call you a moron and I am trying. Yes kids that know consequences in pre-k and up to their teen years and respect authority don't grow up to be gangsters. Ones that don't understand consequences believe they can behave recklessly and not be punished, mostly because they were not. However images glorified today by some young people and some parents that should be infertile do contribute to most people's lack of respect for laws and authority.

Yes, and it's also funny that this sort of thing never seems to happen in North or East Cobb.
However, there is definitely a common demographic thread between Dekalb and South Cobb. Any guesses? huh? huh? Let's keep it real...
Are you saying Black people don't live in North or East Cobb. I could give a counterexample if I gave you my address. Let's keep it real....

Thank you Reen. I also believe that it's North and East Cobb that have most of the teachers having inapropraite relationships with the students as well. I guess the parents are just greatful that at least the teachers are involved though!!!

We need to bring back public execution or something.

There just doesn't seem to be the reality of punishment for these kids.

Of course, statistics would imply that this kid was college bound anyway.

His parents failed him long before he shot anyone.

AMERICAN X2 PROPS TO YOU FOR THIS POST! I think this is something that needs to be said to his face and the last line...I WOULD LOVE to hear his answer...But he probably thinking about all that now..but NOW is TOO LATE! I bet none of them will write him, who's going to put money on his books, etc..and the list goes on...yeah so much for your gang..your so called friends....I wonder if the other gang is planning a retaliation? Yeah, some of these younger kids don't understand fighting it out....You're strong in numbers but standing alone most of this kids wouldn't be able to...I wish their could be a mandatory visit of jail where they have to stay over one night..shoot a week....I mean maximum security prison too..I don't think this should be for ALL kids just ones that's starting off on the wrong path...sometimes a good scare will do it for you..i'm just saying..some may not see that as a complete fix but I'm just saying.....

Yes I read it, did you? Nowhere in the article did I see anything about shots fired into the air. One small thing that you are right about - it should have NEVER have happened. But, your attempted manipulation of the facts and your bad grammer make me wonder if you're related to the punk.

This is truly a sad. These black young men are taking the lives of they're own brothers and what's worst is that they have not even begun to know what life is truly about.

Maybe if the local media would stop covering this nonsense and start reporting more posistive stuff such as honor students and such students who are making a positive difference in they're communities. Students who have come from what is so called, bad students, who have changed they're lives and has become good students. Please don't be fooled by the hype. The media has a lot to do with the problems of our society. If the media become more responsible as to what they are reporting, I think it could change the impact on our society. I am sick and tired of hearing the same old thing on the news every night. It's all the same, just different names on different days.

God help us!

Maybe you should define what's the meaning of a true gang. Is it the number of members? Is it how many murders that they commit? Is it they're age? Well you tell me what is it. Well I'll tell you! A gang is any time you get a number of people that is more than one and you all have the same commend goal, you can be concidered a gang. All gangs are not bad, so we need to be careful how we approach the word Gang!

Wow, what a shame for all involved. You know I had a discussion with my 12 year old son the other. He was all involved in a video game and just extrememly concentrated on it. I made the comment, if you applied yourself half as much to school, look what you could accomplish. These children NEED direcion from someone who can show them a better side of life and how to use their endless energy in something productive. I understand this 16 year old knowingly commited a horrible crime, and must now step up like a man to reap what he has sewn, but in essence, his life too was just lost. My prayers are with all involved. MENTOR A CHILD. It isn't your reponsibility to raise someone's else children, however it is your duty as a HUMAN seeking a peaceful safe country to become involved and help.
