Why is there a Confederate Flag behind the Pope in the picture?

And here I thought Christianity was about the worship of Christ, not some man in a pointy hat. I don't begrudge people their freedom of religion, but these posts sound like they're seeing Christ in his "mobile" instead of a man. A most fallible man who was a member of the Nazi youth and helped push aside the sexual predators of the Catholic Church for years. I love the alluding to "Dante's Inferno" and "The Canterbury Tales". Read those sometime if you want to see Dante and Chaucer's take on officials of the Catholic Church. They didn't hold them in very high esteem.

Well said i agree i wouldn't walk across the street to see the pope je is nobody,Jesus Paid It All it wasn't the pope he is just a man.
How sad we have taken our eyes off of Christ and put it on a human being. Jesus said ,I am The Way The Truth and The Life NO MAN cometh unto THE Father but BY ME John14:6
Christ is broken hearted to see so many believe in a man instead of HIm.
How Sad.

People have taken a good moment and turned it into evil. Of course, I would not expect anything less.

People need to do the basic and that being read the Bible. This person is a man just like anyother man and capable of sin.

These blogs are remarkable for their literacy, empathy and erudition. The children are obviously not satisfied with what one critical respondent called "the basic" (read the Bible--it's all there) and the father and mother of the family clearly have led their offspring to know Jesus and His Father through encounters with the many riches of the Catholic Church, including its earthly leader. Samuel Johnson, an ardent anti-Papist and lifelong Anglican, said it best: "No other faith gives it adherents so many aids to salvation as the Church of Rome." He would no doubt count the papal visit as among those aids. Come to think of it, Dr. Johnson would probably add the Voss family to that list. Many thanks.
