The 112th Congress is on track to go down in history as the most unproductive one since at least 1947 thanks to the lack of bipartisan cooperation, the Huffington Post reports.
Take a look at the number of bills passed by the 112th Congress, which is now in its final days. President Obama signed 219 bills into law during this session and has 20 pending on his desk. Compare that to the 111th Congress, which passed 383 bills, and the one before, which passed 460, the article said.
The U.S. House Clerk's Office, which has records going back to 1947, said that before this year the 104th Congress (1995-1996) was the least productive with 333 bills passed. President Harry Truman famously dubbed the 80th Congress (1947-1948), the "Do-Nothing Congress," but those legislators actually enacted 906 bills.
Much has been said of the GOP's obstructionism. Congressional scholars Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution, a liberal think tank, and Norman Ornstein of the conservative American Enterprise Institute, published an op-ed in the Washington Post last spring blaming the GOP for congressional dysfunction. Congress' approval rating currently stands at 18 percent, the article said.

This congress is on the right track. Success is not measured in how many laws are passed, but by how few.
