I am sorry that Phil and Atlanta Resident have a different view. However I think Mableton is wonderful. You can get to and fro and not be in all the crazy traffic as you would if you lived in the Dunwoodys, Sandy Springs, Buckhead or even Smyrna certain times of the day. I have yet to have any trouble from any bad element and I have lived in Mableton for 7 years. I moved out of Atlanta because of the crime, bad taxes and ill ran local governement. The schools aren't all that bad when you compare them to Fulton County or City of Atlanta schools. Mableton Elementary and Nickajack Elementary are decent school. Mableton is a Title 1 school of excellence. Pebblebrook Highschool is an Arts Magnet school and is where the Cobb County Center of Excellence in the Arts in located. The School has graduated dozens of students who have gone on to attend Juliard.
IIAM is located in Mableton and although they had some trouble in the begining (switching principals and teachers) they are growing and having a good amount of success. The school is less than 3-4 years old. Mableton also has Whitefield academy which is a nationally ranked private school. Mableton is still dotted with some old mom-pop stores , used car lots and frame shops, but also has its share of celebrities, politicians, pro-athletes and access to major shopping. Target, Lowes, Home-Depot, Walmart, Kmart, Publix, Kroger, access to two major freeways, and the EW Connector allow for the quality living you would expect to see in an area so close to Atlanta. You can also get to the Delta ticket counter within 20 mins. Now try that from Buckhead.
