Winds wane, allow brush fire to be quelled quickly
Firefighters caught a break Thursday as strong trade winds eased and a brush fire that broke out near the pali came quickly under control.

The Maalaea fire happened shortly after the burning of the upwind cane fields. The cane burning was during one of the strongest winds reported this year. Seems like cane burning should wait until the wind calms down. Who's in charge here?
