Mayor Kitching, Clerk VenHuisen and Trustee Shapiro are out distributing more flyers today, that say the Village Trustees are trying to change your form of government. I was at the last meeting and Trustee John Ryan said they were reducing the pay for Elected officials in 2013. Trustee Dalzell was identifing the need for more professional assistance in the Mayor's office, in the form of a Village Administrator (which can only happen after the next election, if the Board and Mayor choose that option. Trustee Quinn pointed out that our Finance Director is the Village Administrator (as he runs the Village Hall), however, he's leaving in November. WHAT PART OF THE FLYER BEING DISTRIBUTED IS TRUE. MAYOR KITCHING AND jOHN SHAPIRO ARE INTENIONALLY PISSING OFF THE RESIDENTS, TO SAVE THEIR PAYCHECKS AND INSURANCE, SHOULD THEY BE RE-ELECTED. THE MAYOR ALREADY RECIEVES A VERY LUCERATIVE PENSION FROM THE ALSIP FIRE DEPARTMENT. CAN YOU SPELL MONEY!!!
Markham Mayor David Webb who is also the chair of the JAWA Board received a $1,500.00 "campaign donation" from the engineering firm of Postl-Yore right after they were given the JAWA contract.

Mayor Kitching and his Action Party Buddies are trying to fool the entire community once again. They don't like competition. They think the residents are stupid. Thats why they distributed literature at the last election, to tell you that Rick Dalzell is BAD for Alsip and now their at it again, distributing literature, telling the residents that Rick is BAD for recognizing that the administration in the Village Hall is doing the bulk of the Mayor's job. The Trustees know whats best, thats why the Village voted for them. The Action Party participants have slowly been eliminated in recent elections and Shapiro dosen't stand a chance of being re-elected, unless he supports the Residents, by reducing the salaries for Elected Officials.

DeerParker, Your above post might be the biggest pile of BS I have ever read on topix and believe me, I've read a lot of BS on here. It's very clear that the 5 independent Trustee's of the UNITY PARTY,(Quinn, Dalzell, Ryan, MCGREAL, and Daddonna are on a power grab! As for the AP not liking competition, I'm sure they are chomping at the bit to Take on Jim Quinn, Steve Daddonna, and whatever other Unity Party candidates decide to run! As for trying to bully Trustee Shapiro into joining your corrupt, power grab, John Shapiro has too much INTEGRITY to join your group of pathetic, dishonest, Power Hungry, Unity Party Thugs! Good Luck in April, your really gonna need a miracle to hang on to any village seats!!!!

The Honorable Mayor Kitching and his party want voters to think the village is in good shape financially. Can he please explain why only 47.46 % of the pension liability is funded instead of 100%?

Denial, I've read your posts, your not a village resident, your only concern is the Jawa. You don't know anything about our people or elected officials. My advise to you would be to mind your own beeswax, move to a town that doesn't have Jawa where Chicago can increase your water rates as they see fit for the next 100 years, and stay out of This thread. Jawa has it's own thread, post there...

The jawa water issue belongs on the referendum ballot, communities that miss the November 2012, deadline should not worry and insist the JAWA issue is placed on the April 2013, ballot!

Until the mayors, trustees, and aldermen involved figure out they have made a billion dollar blunder, not including cost over runs or up grades. For the next 40 years, you, your children, and grandchildren will pay for the jawa water project long after all of these politicians are out of office and long gone.

Can anyone answer why Trustee Dalzell tried to slip his Village Administrator plan through when no one was at the village meeting, but then a couple of weeks later when Mayor Kitching asked him if they wanted to vote on it while Alsip residents were present, they all ran & hid and wanted to delay it?......
Very dishonest group of trustees the Mayor has to deal with.

Dear Truth,
You have successfully been distracted. Ask the Mayor where the water is coming from for the multimillon dollar water project.
There is none.

I believe this reply I found on another thread (Who do you like for Alsip Trustee) speaks volumes about Mr. Dalzell;

(copy & past)

Why did mr. Dalzel file a useless FOIA for tons of paperwork that he did absolutely nothing with, other than to tie up all the secretaries that work hard at the village of alsip?

Why was Mayor Kitching forced to go down to Springfield and get the laws changed so trouble makers like Dalzel could not do this again to other villages and paralyze them so they can't get any other village work done?

Why was he ushered out of the alsip town hall a few years ago under police escort?

Why was his son arrested a few years back for taking bets while attending Marist HS?

Why is he trying to shove this village manager idea in the back door silently, and when people show up for the meetings he takes it off the agenda?

I think I have seen enough dirty politicians in my 75 years to know one and I certainly don't need this type of person representing my best interests in the town of alsip. Read the papers & attend the meetings and you shall see the type of person he is and how he has damaged the integrity of alsip with his shady dealings. I hope all you supporters of Dalzel are happy that you have voted for him last year. Thank you for screwing over the town of alsip with him in our presence again.

Again, issues regarding salaries are distractions from the serious financial crisis, that includes under funded pensions, the appearance of surplus funds, and the Jawa.

Whiting purchases their water from Hammond. Whiting can not sell water to any company, community, municipality, neighboring community, or state in excess of 1,000 gallons per day according to the terms of their 20 year contract with Hammond. Just read the bond agreement and the contract between Whiting and Hammond. Water distribution contracts are very specific.

This Jawa does NOT HAVE WATER, it does have millions in BONDS attached to the JAWA water project for residents, taxpayers, and the public to pay for. The costs for the bonds, swaps, caps, cirivitives, fees, will not go away and the seven communities are on the hook for the money according to the terms of the bonding contract.

I agree with Dalzell that a professional administrator can bring economic development into the village. Alsip is the perfect location for business. Kitching lacks the education, and sophistication to energize any significant economic development. Kitching is content with keeping Alsip in the dark ages. Alsip needs a professional administrator who can jump start development along Cicero Ave and Pulaski Ave. We need to get the policemen & firemen focused on their jobs and stay out of the political arena.

I know they were policemen and I know that the Kitching brothers and Kevin Michaels were firemen. I have lived in Alsip for over 30 years and the Village services seem to get more political as each year passes. The firemen and policemen who are working for Alsip need to focus on their jobs and stay out of the politics.

Mayor Kitching is telling the Fire Dept, the Police and Public Works, that the Village has a surplus of 5,000,000.00 to offer them as the "TRUSTEES", not the Mayor, are invloved with contrct negociations. How does the Village save any money with a Mayor who wants to give it away to his brothers in the Fire Dept. Kitching is a retired Alsip Fireman. Why are all of our property taxes going up if Kitching has $5,000,000.00 to give away?
I can't wait to vote for someone other than Kitching.

What a mess last night.
The trustees and mayor look like a bunch of bickering kids.
A professional mayor (Kitching) wouldn't continue to roll the same people out (Dwyers) to say the same thing over and over. A professional mayor also wouldn't continue to banter around about party affiliation, etc. and allow the catcalls in the audience. For God sakes man, you have the gavel, your meetings are an absolute crime against Roberts Rules of Order. Embarrassing when three plain clothes officers have to monitor the back of the room especially as you all agree we are short in the police department. Wouldn't these guys better serve the village keeping us safe, not keeping you village officials safe from each other?
A credible party (AP) wouldn't put anonymous letters in peoples mailboxes and not put their name on it.
A credible party (UP, ACES, In Quinn We Trust, or whatever you want to call it) wouldn't act like a vengeful bunch of little brats. They would work to gain complete control in the next election and then make decisions that don't seem political.
A professional trustee (Ryan) wouldn't allow his smug children to make catcalls from the audience at people that have the guts to go to the microphone even if what they are saying is nonsensce. Grow a pair and walk to the microphone yourselves. You are old enough to come to the meetings and make your presence worthwhile. Ryan, you look like a fool, sheepishly dismissing your sons with that shit eating grin. It make YOU look like an ass.
The word overheard last night the most was "over-aggressive". This seems about right. Everything about the meetings, the agendas, the way you go after each other is over-aggressive.
Steve and Sheila, stay above the fray. Talk with your votes, not with spite.

I agree with everything you are saying except for your moniker (new party anyone).

Who is left that these two warring factions haven't screwed over? Where would you find suitable candidates?

Just a quick reminder of the people who have worked hard in this village only to have their names tarnished by politics..........

Chris McLawhorn
Don Castaldo
Russ Kobel
Dan Godfrey
Stan Graczyk
Kevin Michaels
Kathy Perretta
Colleen Coyle
Tom Collins
Glen Hortsmann

Also, the same politics that pushed Dalzell out the door are coming back around to try and get Chief Radz.

Your wife's panties must be creeping up again. I've attended all of the recent meetings and Trustee John Ryan has had to professionally sit and listen to insults, badgering, catcalls and whatever else Kitching's cheerleaders dish out, before they all clap for themselves. So, I'd give his son a pass, as he knows his father works hard for the interest of the Village and I don't see him back down from anyone, including the Mayor. The Trustees have to listen to people who were tricked into coming to the meetings, by a Mayor who tells everyone that he's a part-time Mayor, because the Mayor position salary will be reduced. This affects the next election and the Action party thinks it's coming back to glomb whatever they can. Remember, if the Action Party Mayor and Village Clerk and Trustee Shapiro wrote it, it must be true. Just like before the election, when the same Action Party members challanged Trustee Dalzeel and Ryan's nominating petitions, because they didn't like the binding clip that held the petitions togather, that cost the Village $23,000.00.
I bet they'd like us to forget that one right!
