If children are not allowed to go on phones or computers during the day teachers should absolutely not be allowed to go on their email or Facebook. Were there to help children not for our own personal business.

I know this happened at South Lewis. Is that what you're referring to? It does look bad, but as far as I know it has been addressed and it's really not a major problem.

with all the BS that happens in schools these days with shootings and stuff, I feel much better knowing my daughter has a phone with her at school.. if shes not using it, whats the problem.. teachers definitely need to be off theirs during school hours...

yeah, well how about some of you parents making sure your little sweeties are doing their schoolwork and behaving themselves in school. seems like that is more of an issue to me.

I know, right! Far be it from me to judge someone who may be online during (gasp!) a break. In any job, your break time is your break time. If they are using it while on duty, that's a totally different situation.

And if it's really an issue with a coworker, why not take the issue to your superior? I'm sure posting it on topix will surely solve the problem.

Teachers are adults who have a personal life. Yes, they may use their phone to call home, doctors, make appointments or for whatever reason they need during their lunch or break time. If they check Facebook during that time... well, shame on them, however, I doubt very much they are on Facebook when they have 20 students around them...if that is how they want to spend their 30 minute lunch time we so be it.

I can think of a few teachers at the Elelementary School who I would forgive using FB during school if they were posting bikini pics.

A teacher could easily have a planning period an hour after school started but that shouldn't be considered personal time.

For what most of the workers at the school are getting paid they are probably online looking for better jobs.

Strange. I can't think of any of them in a bikini. A few are stone faced, nose pointed in the air and THINK they look good in a bikini. Attitudes like that are VERY unattractive.

Actually it is. A teacher has to spend a lot more "Planning" time than the 40 minutes given. That is also considered their "break". Most jobs allow you a 15-20 minute "coffee" break every four hours. Teachers aren't given a break but a planning time. I know some people expect them to work from 8-330 with just a 30 minute lunch but sometimes.. well you gotta go to the bathroom, make a phone call etc.
