Electricity Bills?

How are your electricity bills fairing?
In Wayne County we buy from SKRECC, who purchases power from East KY Power. They are murdering us. Fixed income homes are trying to pay $400 electric bills for a two bedroom small home. Lots of homes are seeing $300-$400 electric bills. We have a fuel charge which is 1/3 of our bill and an environmental surchage that is at least 10%. How is it going for you, the ones who purchase energy from KY Power. Just need to know, so we can ban together here and fight for a change.

i am on Fleming-Mason energy,,,,,,and all the add on charges make my bill about 1/3 more than it would be otherwise,,,,,,,and some charges i don't even know what they are,,,,,,,there is one called "customer charge",,,,,,,what is that?

I'm in that boat also. I kept my furnace on 68 degrees last month. I'm not home much at all. My bill was $199.00.(when I say I wasn't home much, I mean maybe 5 or 6 days at the most, all month) How could I have possibly racked up a $200 electric bill??????????

I have grayson and mine is almost 400.... Last year this time it was 500... Its so crazy but what can you do, they know that we have to have it.. So they can charge you what ever they want to... Thats a house payment I live in a mobile home.. I can't afford to buy a house because my electric bill is a house payment... I wish there was something that we could do if there is let me know.... I amgame for nything...

I HAVE RECC, MY BILL WAS 325.00 THIS MONTH, WE KEEP THE HEAT ON 67. RECC IS A SCAM. EACH MONTH MY BILL IS LOADED WITH EXTRA CHARGES TOO.

we are with recc too and our bill was 456 and we can't handle that grocies are almost doubled......how we suppose to keep warm and eat? we can't live on LOVE ALONE!

I am with Fleming- Mason and I requested that I be put on a budget plan and I pay a flat rate of $116.00 a month and every September I pay the difference which last year I paid $150.00. but the point I am trying to make is to ask you electric company if they have a budget plan and go from there I hope this helps someone because it really helped me but if you have any questions or anything about it just leave a message here, I really hope this helps someone because if I had to pay what you all are paying I would be in a world of hurt and probably starve and loose my house because a $400.00 or more electric is more then I pay in a house payment.... All you have to do is call and ask your electric company..... What would it hurt... besides saving you money each month if you need it...

Take time out to send an e-mail or two or three to the PSC (KY Public Service Commission). [e-mail].
Get everyone you know to complain. Complain all the way to the top at http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/
Do not let the energy providers treat the public the same way the big oil companies did.
To those who want to know, East KY Power asked PSC in December 08, if they could legally cook their books at the tune of $12.3 million. To fool their lenders into thinking that they could pay their debt.
If another meeting occurs with RECC, we need to ask them to find another energy provider to purchase from. I hear KU does a good job. We need to ask them to go to the PSC and change the rules of the fuel adjustment. But most importantly the public that has had enough needs to show up for the meetings. We need a meeting where all can be involved. A large meeting across counties to let the media know what we are thinking. Remember contact PSC and complain. We also need media coverage. A large part of the problem is East KY Power. Contact The residents of the counties that EKPC provides energy to need a meeting with representatives from RECC or your local vendor and East KY and the PSC all together at the same time so that PSC will understand our grievances.

Please let us keep this topix going until we can come up with a consensus on when and where to meet. We can start here. Then we can meet in the afternoon at a local restaurant and brainstorm on what needs to be done next, allocate duties and get something changed. Which includes contacting customers from other counties. I have another tidbit that I'd like to share. During the management audit of East KY Power, the PSC requested this info, dated Jan. 23, 2009: "Explain why a 16% increase in employees from the base to the test year caused a 112% increase in salaries." We are being cheated, but it may be too late for relief considering EKPC is having a difficult time paying its debt because of mismanagement. Does any of this sound familiar? AIG, Wall Street, etc....MISMANAGEMENT.

mine was running over 300 a month and the sad part is just 2 years ago i was only paying 60 a month and for the last 5 months it has ran over 300 well i got a bill last month and yea this is the truth it was only $45.00 i had been telling them something was wrong they would not listen so they checked it out and then i get my new bill and it is 200.00 but the electric usuage was only 143.00 so yea they are getting richer and we are just going broke...

Well my electric bill has sky-rocketed....and Mr. Eric Bloomfiel at the electric board said expect a 30% increase...it think it would be cheaper on everyone to buy a generator...They are remodeling the office there at the office...we are obviously paying for it.

My electric bill from RECC was $500 all winter in didnt even use a furnace we bought a wood pellet sove so someone tell me what my deal is,I contacted the electric co. many times telling them something was wrong but they told me it was my problem but i think my meter is screwed up.The other bad thing is they wouldnt even accept over half the payment even with the promise to pay again in 2 weeks so what does that say about the asses!
