I moved out of Bothell in 1965 but have fond memories of being a kid during those days, The hydo races down the slough and the main street water melon eating contest , eating soft serve ice dream from the 'ZESTO' drive in . Were You there then? Great time to be a kid:)

Hi Jay. You may or may not be the Jay Decker I knew when I was young, but I'm giving this a try. I grew up in Bothell and by the time I was 13, my sister Sheri married Jim Decker. I don't know if you are from that family, but there came a time when I was 15 that I lived with Sheri and Jim up on Hwy 99 north of Lynnwood. I have a picture, if I can find it, of you and I standing in front of Sheri and Jim's nice '56 Chevy convertible.(If it's you). I'll continue talking as though you are the same guy. After we lived in the tri plex for a while, John Decker and his wife Cheryl moved into the lower unit. I heard that Joe Decker just passed away. It's too bad we all lost contact and went our separate ways. Even though Jim and Sheri divorced so long ago, I still consider him a brother in law, or even brother. I hope you are that Jay, and hope you get this post. I have no clue how this works or if it sends you an email notice.

Hello Jim;

I am glad that our thread put a smile on You. It is great to know our past does not determine who we are now but at the same time it is a good feeling to reflect on some of the good things that we remember that put a smile on our faces that were in our past. I think we need more of that today as this world seems to get out of control and weighs on all of us at times. The "Good News" is the best is yet to come for all of those who have Faith:) God Bless You and hope the smiles keep coming.:) Jay

It took a lot of things to fall into place since the late 1960's for this opportunity to meet up here Jay. There were no computers and no internet. It all had to be invented and then become popular and affordable. So here we are after over 4 decades, up here in the "future", talking as though little time has past. I think it's wonderful that we have reconnected from a lifetime ago!

I agree. Where did time go? When You are young You can not wait to your a little older and when Your older You wish You could turn back the clock to when You were younger:) The song by the Beatles "Yesterday" really hits home when You look at life through older eye's. I was listening to a person talking about His Grand Mother and when He went to Her house for dinner , She would lean down and say to Him "keep Your fork" I made something special and the "best" is yet to come:) This is how I look at life after death as "The best is yet to come" So keep Your "Fork" (Faith) because it is coming for all of us. God Bless You My Brother...

When I was a teenager, it was like I was going to live forever. Older people said that I had better do the best I can because life passes by quickly. I was told I should respect the life I was given and live it to it's fullest.

I guess it didn't sink in. I wasted a good part of 40 years of my life. Now I will be 60 and I don't know how or when I all of a sudden got here. My mind and my body are two different things. My body grows old and I have physical and mental limitations as I "wear out" in my "old age", but my mind doesn't see it. I think of the past and all the years that have gone by like it was yesterday. All of my life is in memory, but not seen in it's place in time and space where it occurred.

So as I get nearer to the end of my life, which is inevitable, I don't make the total connection between my mind and body. I don't think of dying as much as I do of living. I didn't think of the end during the course of my life. I lived freely as though it had no end.

I didn't take advantage of each day and enjoy the blessing that each day had. The reality comes though and any years wasted cannot be replaced. I thank God I have hope for a new life beyond this now. A life throughout eternity for those that obey God.

I do have that hope, but I doubt also. That's the nature of man. If he didn't doubt and wonder, he would just live day by day until he expired. He wouldn't seek reasons for his existence and would not consider a Creator that cared about him. Having the hope of eternal life adds to the value of this life and the hope available in the new world to come...
