Dear Folks,
My mother was born in Lynnfield in 1913 and, even if she were not ten years gone she would not be able to tell me much about it as she was very young when the family left. Her father was a pretty successful pro boxer named Matty Baldwin. They had a "gentleman's farm" sort of place; some land, a nice house, a couple of servants, two sports cars and a pony for the kids.
At the age of fifty-seven I know nothing of my mother's birthplace and would like to. Web search comes up with mainly real estate stuff. Can anyone direct me to a source of information on the history of the town? My grandfather must have been a quite notable resident about a century back but even getting a sense of the town as it is now would be of great interest. My email address is fmbosche@sbcglobal.net
Thank you,

My name is Steve Baldwin, grandson of John E. Baldwin, late brother of Matty Baldwin.

Although I grew up in Charlestown for 20 years, I now live in Austin, TX.
I have done research on Matty for several years. I hope to write a book on Matty someday.

I can be contacted at dfsmithtx@aol.com

Frank, there is a Baldwin Lane in Lynnfield...wonder if it could be named after your relative? Lynnfield Library has a good book on Lynnfield's history if you're ever in the area.
