Mass. considers Fluffernutter for state sandwich

Full story: Lowell Sun

The Fluffernutter could soon become the official sandwich of Massachusetts. The sweet, gooey combination of peanut butter and Marshmallow Fluff has been a favorite of generations of New England school children.

The story doesn't cite who is sponsoring the bill. In the past school kids have pushed through bills for things like making the ladybug the state insect of Massachusetts, etc., as part of a lesson in how government works. I think its kind of cute.

Sounds like they are discussing important issues on Beacon Hill again.
Wonder if the elected officials in Concord NH discuss important matters such as these?
Think we should pay Massachusetts Solons the same rate as their NH compatriots...
Believe it is 200 bucks a year in the Granite state...
Then lets see if they discuss important issues like this...
or how they broke the law by not letting the legislature vote (it had to get 2/3 majority to pass) on the Amendment to the State Constitution.
Typical hypocrisy!
It would have only delayed the naming of the the Kennedy replacement by a week or so...
But in the hurry to get things done....skirt the law...
After all total power equals total corruption.

These things happen in every state. It is usually a group of school kids doing a civics project on how bills become laws. We already have official state birds, bugs, flowers, birds, and the other obvious things, so civics teachers have to dig deeper each legislative session to find something we don't already have designated as an official whatever.

Besides, I'd rather have the legislature talking about inconsequential things like this than raising my taxes, creating a new "authority" to provide a new source of patronage jobs, or any of the legion other harmful things they do when they conduct "serious" business.

Our Legislators hard at work spending our tax dollars, and wasting time.
I suppose though, they had to add a couple of minutes to their State house attendance.

When are they going to name the world's greatest candy, Necco's Sky Bar, as the state candy bar?

I see a filibuster in the making there if Necco wafers are touted as a candy bar. The Charleston Chew should be the state candy bar; Necco wafers should be in another category, the state wafer perhaps.

The state nut is Deval Patrick.

The state drink is Blue Kool-Aid.

There is a new aquarium in MA now. It's the Ted Kennedy Aquarium. You drive your car there and they put it upside down under the bridge. You watch the fish swim by until your girlfriend dies and then you run away. Unfortunately it's BYOB. You should have been there for the Grand opening though, Kitty Dukakis was giving out free samples of rubbing alcohol and witch hazel. Diane Wilkerson was collecting the Admission money and stuffing it in her bra while John Kerry handed out flip-flops.

Sky Bars are the best! What other candy gives you four distinct flavors in one bar covered in milk chocolate? Can't always find them either!
