My guns have sit in my safe for 40 plus years only to be taken out and cleaned and the occasional target practice. I have three boxes of shells for each of them. I refuse to understand that through no fault of my own I have to give either my right to own them, my guns, or worse both. I understand the horror of the school and other shootings, but my guns stay locked up and to date have not snuck out and caused any harm to anyone.
The American public through no fault of their own are considering letting the government have our guns. But it is a majority of people that don't own guns, or wagon jumpers wanting to ban guns are the real threat to this problem.

If they cannot guarantee that no criminal will ever again own a gun, why would they want to take them from law abiding citizens.

I honestly do not think that they will ever be able to outright ban handguns, they are too embedded in our culture.

Now then, I think if we just enforce current laws we will do fine. There is only one other piece of legislation I like the idea of...

How about this, if you own a firearm, you are required to keep it in a cabinet, gun safe or lockable case? AND if you DO NOT do so, and your child commits murder with that gun, you yourself are charged with murder.

I like that idea for it leaves responsible gun owners alone. ALL responsible gun owners already keep their guns locked away. Its the lazy gun owners taht make the good ones look bad.

Why is it after every shooting, there is someone that comes on here to think their firearms are going to be taken away? Stop worrying.

I couldn't agree more with gun owners responsibility. But I refuse to be brow beat by non gun owners that their insistence on my giving up my guns is the only solution. But when you ask them how many gun safety classes, or conceal carry classes they have been to they will say none.

So why do they want to be taken seriously on gun control. I've spent my money, and my time being educated on safety and gun law, but now i should listen to people who are afraid of the scary guns. I've never seen so many narrow minded people in my entire life. I believe whole heartedly that if any ban comes down the pike, responsible gun owners should seek a ban on stupidity. Because being that stupid has a negative effect on the USA.

Won't happen Tommy. Check your 2nd Amendment. If you change that one, then you'll lose your 1st amendment, and then where does it stop.

You do realize that our constitution is more scared than the rest of historic documents combined.

Try to be a part of the solution not a part of the problem.

If we are lucky, the government will take steps to limit ownership of assault weapons capable of slaughtering a large number of people in a few seconds. As far as the rest of it goes, banning guns is a dead issue. It won't happen. Forget it. Americans are content to leave things as they are no matter how many people are killed. End of story. No president will even consider touching it (unless you believe the NRA, who like to promote the issue to increase gun sales, which is after all, the purpose of their organization).

What about bans on assault chemicals and bombs. What about assault knives forks meat cleavers. What about assault baseball bats, hockey sticks and boat oars.

You see you need to redefine you're take on the whole assault word. Need you be reminded that there was a ban on assault rifles in 1994. Why are you trying like the rest to clump my rifles which are perfect legal to own, to some kind of assault class. There not. It's call a semi auto rifle which is used for hunting and target practice. I don't own an machine gun and don't want to because its illegal.

And if I own a semi auto pistol, it's not a assault pistol. It's a defensive pistol. To protect me, and my property, and my family.

The government is looking at having every gun owner go down to the local sheriffs office & register all firearms. I call $%#@&@%! If this law is passed where will it end? The 2nd amendment is on the chopping block. You know, Hitler had the Austrians register their guns & look what it got them. Hell in a handbasket ppl. Hell in a handbasket. There are something like 10 gun laws on the table right now & some if not all of them will pass because our leaders are idiots. As far as an amendment goes it can be changed or altered by the stroke of a pen & it is happening. I'm sorry anyone is killed by a gun but I don't understand the punish the whole country mentality. The countrys who hate us are watching & waiting for the time we are disarmed so they can make their move. Our constitution is only as good as the paper it's written on & if the powers that be want to chasnge something they just write in an amendment to the amendment so that it reflects what they want it to say. I say buy your guns & ammo now because in the very near future you won't have that right.

This letter was written to Sen. Dianne Feinstein by 8 year marine vet named Joshua Boston;

Senator Feinstein;

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed , as I do not believe it is the gov's right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken grom me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection, yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma'am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Vet of 8 yrs. and I wilol not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.
I am not your subject. I sm the the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.
I am the man who fought for my country. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must regester my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.
I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campsign against th e american public.
We the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston

Not with the right paperwork and a few thousand dollars and a few months to wait. See, there is a legal process through which a citizen could acquire one. Funny thing is though, hardly any reasonable person seems to be worried the government is going to confiscate everybody's guns because this process is in place for purchasing machine guns or find it a violation of their second amendment rights.

But somehow it's a violation of the second amendment if we consider a similar process for a semiautomatic AK-47. I have had the occasion to shoot an AK, and thought someone on the receiving end would not take much solace in the fact that I could only unload a 75 round drum magazine "as fast as I can squeeze the trigger".

- James Earl Jones

"The Second Amendment of our Bill of Rights is my Concealed Weapons Permit, period."

Quoting Ted Nugent does not help your case. He is borderline crazy, if not full blown crazy, not to mention full of hatred for anyone not like him.
