What was lost on you is that the count is irrelevant without considering the size of the population. But what can I expect from someone who contends that "rates is basically an odds count, more people, lower rate". Keep buying them lott'ry tickets, your bound to hit your numbers one of these days.

Oh, I thought you meant real socialists, not that cute way you call everybody you don't agree with a "socialist".
Real socialist huh? You're thinking that only Lenin, Marx, or Chavez are "real" socialist right? It doesn't take a brutal dictator to be considered a socialist. Sure, the brutality of these tyrants is a symptom of failed socialism's planners, desperation if you will, but one doesn't have to be violent to considered a socialist. Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Barack Obama were/are all three socialists by any studied persons interpretation of socialism. By reading your comments I assume you are sympathetic to socialism? I may be wrong because I don't know you, but it's just my perception. Feel free to clear the air here.

Done hit it, that's why I can be on here whenever I want. Which is less than I can say for you, disappearing from the time you left your job until 15 minutes ago. You aren't on the cyber while at work are you? I like them odds. Next question, do you know the rate of fire from an AR-15?

Also, you seem to be under the impression that I paint a rosey picture of all of our American history which I do not. America has had its problems. Slavery, antebellum era communes and social experimentation, the 60's counter culture, and corruption from the birth of our nation from crooked goverment officials. However, the bigger picture shows a moral decline that can hardly be denied. That's what Joe American was referring to and what I'm referring to as well.

Those are communists, not socialists. I have yet to meet a person who thinks communism is a good system. We live in a country with socialist institutions. The entire country has had socialist elements since the colonies were founded.

Maybe to the studied persons they have on Fox news these days after Obama quoted him in a speech, but they were strangely silent about that when McCain hailed ol' Teddy as one of his heroes back in 2008.

Which comments are those? I rarely advocate any position.

When someone tells me Obama is a Muslim, I say probably not.

When someone tells me that 47 percent of the population doesn't pay any taxes, I tell them while they may not pay Federal Income Tax they still pay plenty in taxes.

When people complain about the Earned Income Credit, I point out that the mortgage interest deduction costs twice as much and why should homeowners be subsidized when renters are not.

When people complain about foreign aid, I point out that it is a tiny fraction of the budget.

When someone says that the murder rate in Chicago is high and implies it is because of gun laws, I point out that there are higher murder rates in cities with lesser gun laws or that New York went from 2000 to less than 500 in 20 years.

My very conservative father used to do the same thing to me when I made blanket pro-conservative statements when I was younger.(I was a registered Republican coming out of high school, Reagan was president, it was the thing to do back then, and to paraphrase him, I didn't leave the Republican party, the Republican party left me). He taught me that things are usually a little more nuanced than party talking points would have you believe.

But as SpiritOfTheHawk pointed out, some people sure don't want to believe that.

You might call me a lucky strike. 14.2 mil each, amongst my group of friends. Back in the day of, I did not have sexual relations with that woman. As Slick proved, you don't get none if you don't play some. Professor of analogy, you don't take risks? You wake up every morning don't you?

Marx is the father of socialism. Chavez is certainly a socialist. Of course socialism is a precursor to communism. Yes you are correct that we live in a country with socialist institutions, the most notable being the public school system. I am curious as to what institutions were socialist in the 18th and 19th century's? I'm not saying there wasn't any, just curious. I think we all know that's that's radically changed today.

I'll tell you what's wrong with America. Too many handouts. We've spoiled our children into a welfare society. A you " owe me society ".

We never taught them values that help them their whole life. Never showed them the way to true path to financial independence.

What's wrong with America is the children.

You're exempt from most everything except social security and medicare, but above all that, your debating skills are out of date, like the dinosaurs you talk about on the "arc". Clue in, Ark. You would think Methuselah would know how it's spelled. Are you sure you're exempt?

Marx was a dedicated communist. He would certainly laugh at people who think public schools are a step towards communism. Why would anyone listen or quote someone stupid enough to think communism would work? Myself, I think the military, schools, police protection, public roads, railroads, and regulatory agencies we have are all valuable assets in a capitalistic economy. I think the postal service and social security are great things for the country.

I didn't say public schools were a step towards communism. I said they were a form of socialism because they are centrally planned. As always with socialism, our public schools are failing it's students across America. The post office is yet another failure of socialism. Glad you mentioned it. It is going broke. As a matter of fact, I've heard that social security is in just a wee bit if trouble too. Hmmm. I'm seeing a pattern here. Could it be that government central planners are..gasp..inefficient at best?

The postal service has no debts and is forced to break even each year by federal law. However, the republicans are forcing it to pre-fund all retirements 75 years into the future, costing 6 billion more per year than in the past. This is part of their efforts to wipe out any successful program that pays good wages to it's federal employees. Saying that the postal service is going broke is like saying a clock is running out of time. Of course, it's a Faux talking point and is false, much like their other propaganda.

Social Security is funded well into the future and has a large trust fund accumulated to pay benefits for another 25 years. It is the most efficient federal program in history and has administrative costs that are less than 1% of it's revenue. With a small amount of tweaking, it will be funding the safety net into perpetuity. It is a classic case of a government program that is well run and accomplishes its purpose.

The public schools are not centrally planned. They are run by the local boards of education with each individual state supervising each board. Yes, public schools are socialistic institutions. Are you ready to outlaw them?
