Main Street has brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants for the City that would not otherwise be available if the Main Street program didn't exist. The $25,000 is only part of a much larger yearly budget that mainly comes from monies donated by member businesses. Needline is a worthwhile cause but I would ask this. If Needline receives an additional $25,000 from the City this year what would they do with it? Or I guess I'm saying are they underfunded?

You seem to lack an understanding of economics and sociology. It stands to reason that funding for programs to improve our youth ultimately improve our future. Main Street is one of the few places the kids of Murray have to go to spend their spare time away from other societal traps and to build positive relationships in a positive, supervised environment. In theory, these kids are more likely to succeed as a result of Main Street and will ultimately decrease the need for programs like Needline. Same concept as vaccinating children instead of waiting until they're ill and medicating them.

Wrong Main Street. The one they are talking about is the downtown revitalization program not the youth center.
