Yes, preventing the restriction of the purchase of certain weapons is THE EXACT SAME THING as ending Segregation.

Gun right activists are getting executed and buried in dykes just like James Earl Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner. NRA leaders are getting their homes and families firebombed, just like Vernon Ferdinand Dahmer. Gun control advocates are murdering priests, just like what happened to Jonathan Myrick Daniels, and shooting other priests, like what happened to Richard F. Morrisroe. Worse of all, NRA officers are getting shot in the back in the driveways of their homes in front of their families, just like Medgar Evars.

It's almost like seeing history repeat itself!

"Insert thinly veiled racist comment here."

I thought I'd beat the opposition to the punch. The mentality that would even mention Rosa Parks like that makes me sick.

The point is that regardless of what you or anyone else thinks a person "needs" has absolutely no impact their rights.

How exactly was what I typed racist?

I have the utmost respect for Rosa Parks. She was a courageous woman who stood up for what she believed to be her right as a Free American. She did not care what James Blake or anyone else perceived her needs to be.

I'm proud to say I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Parks when I was young after winning a Civil Rights essay contest.

Oh, sorry. I just thought you were channeling the intellectual corpse of Ted Nugent. That is another point entirely.

Ms. Tapper, I don't think you know very much about anything. It's a known fact that Chicago had over 500 murders last year, the most of any city in the USA. You need to stop typing long enough to get facts, seems you don't have any.

Perhaps you do not know anything, Bob, besides resorting to ad hominem attacks, something Hannity says that only liberals do.

See, in these kinds of statistics it is a common thing to do what is called "normalization", in order to make a fair comparison. In the case of the murder rate you would want to take the total number of murders and divide that by the total population.

So you say Chicago had over 500 murders. The socialists at "Business Insider" say it was 431. They also say New York had more than that.
http://www.businessinsider.com/cities-with-th...

According to the FBI, Chicago has a per-capita murder rate of 6.8 homicides per 100,000 people. New Orleans had 23.7.
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in...

(I was using 2006 statistics earlier for those who notice the multipliers I used then don't match)

Physician, heal thyself. Those are my facts Bob along with some sources, I hope the FBI isn't too liberal a source for you. Let's see your facts and sources, Bob, at least before you accuse me of ignorance again.

Hey Goof Ball, I'm talking about real numbers here, not your made up crap, over 500 murders last year in Chicago. Spin your liberal agenda however you want but people are not going to believe it. By the way, Ms. Tapper, do you work for Media Matters?

Hey Shit4Brains, normalisation is not made up crap, sorry you are so deficient in math and logic to to see that. You just can't stand the fact that the most murderous city is actually in gun happy Louisiana and can't even fathom that you have been played and manipulated by your own side's propaganda. You can't even acknowledge that New York had more murders, you know, using "real numbers", even though I provided the link that proves it, douch-nozzle

Media Matters? You mean those bad liberal meanies who point out conservative hipporacy and highlight their misleading propaganda? No. Man you guys just can't stand opposing opinions can you, and are practically apoplectic when shown to be wrong.

The problem is not weapons, nor the laws that seek to restrict them. Nor is the problem the legal gun owner.

The problem is out culture, which has heroes in movies that shoot all the bad guys, or folks in the hood which carry a gun like it was jewelry.

We are a violent, polarized society.

Ten hunters, all armed with assault rifles, handguns, etc can sit around a table drinking and playing poker, yet no one dies.

The greatest mass murder in this country was not done with guns, but with box cutters and airplanes. Mankind will always find ways to kill each other.

Also, the thug who shoots (doesnt kill though) another for his sneakers gets MORE jail time than the thugs at Tyco or Enron, who ruin hundreds of thousands of people financially.

Whatever happened to the spirit of cooperation and sense of community spirit?

Hey dipstick MS Tapper, it's you who can't count. Everybody but you knows Chicago had the most murders in 2012. Like it or not, that's the fact. They are also getting a good start this year. Most murders are not from assault weapons nor high capacity magazines, it's with 2 or 3 shots.

Hey Dipshit Bob, the answer is not in the simple addition and counting you may or may not have learned in first grade, it requires higher level 3rd grade math skills like division.

Yes, Chicago or New York will likely have the most murders in any given year, BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE LIVE THERE!

Chicago has 500 murders but it is out of a population of 3 million people.
New Orleans had almost 200 murders but its population is only 360,000.

So New Orleans has 40% as many murders as Chicago with only 12% of the population.

Even you have to be able to wrap your tiny mind around the FACT that:

500/3,000,000 is less than 200/360,000

Or can you even do math, Bob? You can even use a calculator and don't have to take your shoes off.
Bob wrote:

Most murders occur as the result of domestic violence. A handgun or even hunting rifle will usually suffice for that purpose. But one out of five police officer deaths involve an assault weapon.

Technically, those are the 2011 numbers, released in 2012.

I would be willing to acknowledge, since my research indicated the murder rate in New York is declining with Chicago's increasing, that he could be right about 2012, if only he could provide a source beyond "Everybody but you".

But that still doesn't change the fact that the murder RATE is significantly higher in New Orleans. I just don't think Bob knows the difference between a COUNT and a RATE, especially when it is convenient for him.
