what happened? Why are they consolidating with alternative school? Kathy Adams has had more success with those students than anyone can measure.

That is a very good question. It seems they want Mrs. Hunter to run all 3 programs!!!! I was at the school board meeting tonight and that's what I overheard.
Mr.Bargo says it's a money saving issue. He doesn't realize that alot of kids will not go without Mrs. Adams being there. If they want to save money do away with the football program, Lord knows they never win anything!!!!!!!

Mr. Bargo don't know the meaning of saving money... I mean transportation to and from is going to cost more. You have to pay the drivers and diesel.
The comment that WPSD made about the Day Treatment and Alternative Program needs to freaking get their facts straight!!!!!! Not ALL the kids are over there because they are bad.... And Ms.Hunter... WHAT A JOKE!!!! They need to keep everything like it is. Ms. Payne, Director of Day Treatment, REALLY cares about the students. They are doing the Directors wrong....

Lucky for Laker Pride I guess they are getting out of that old house and into a nice need building. Every time I pass by they are hanging on the porch and playing football in the yard.

"Everytime", I don't think so. I take it you have no kids at Calloway so that tells me you have no clue what you are talking about.
Laker Pride needs to stay just where it is. Those kids sometimes have to go back to the main school for supplies or books. If they are moved to the Day Treatment Center how are they supposed to get there???
Mr. Bargo is only doing this because Laker Pride has alot more kids and they aren't paying for that new million dollar Day Treatment School!!!!!

I hate to hear it, but it sounds like they are just trying to consolidate to save money. Also, there are a lot of programs being cut these days because of lacking funds. I am sure there are many reasons the program is being cut, but due to possible embarrassment they are not telling the whole story. Schools don't just cut programs to cut them, especially if they are beneficial. Did Murray cut their program like this?

No I'm a retired educator who lives by the school and I can see it for my own eyes. I'm sure they will be able to take all the supplies they need to the new building with them. They are very lucky to get in that nice building. Besides what happened to going to regular school. Most kids over there are unable to cut it in regular school and want to go there because it's easier. Cut the whole program all together and save even more money, they could use a new track and new practice gym like Murray is getting.

And P.S. as for how they will get there? They will ride those big yellow buses, they got to vo tech school anyway and it's on the way.

What I didn't like about what was presented in the news that they made the kids at the day treatment look bad and as if they were a danger on the other kids at the laker pride and the high school! Especially when Mr. Bargo was saying that they will separated from the kids at the day treatment and they will get to the building from another entrance!
Some kids at the day treatment are they because of low grades! How would that make them a danger on other kids!!! And if that's the case why are they combined with kids who have major behavioral issues as they say!!!
They whole thing does not make sense!

Don't know if this will work or not, but here is Calloway County School systems 2011 audit, if I read that right, they have 5.9 million in un used funds, that's 5,966,379.00 just sitting there not being used, but yet they need to save money, looks to me like they do a good job of saving money.. I didn't think schools were there to profit?? Why is this school hoarding money? But yet making bad decisions about the kids futures because of money? http://education.ky.gov/districts/FinRept/Doc...

You make a good point but what you said isn't all there is to this whole story!

Murray consolidated it back into the high school similar to this and it ruined it. These programs are great cause they give kids a chance that most teachers gave up on because they don't fit a certain mold.

If you are a retired educator, then I feel sorry for your former students. Your attitude sucks! Several kids at Laker Pride go there for various, important reasons. Not because it's easy! Easy would be to quit all together. They offer a great alternative. As for cutting the program for a new track or gym... This is what's wrong with the system now. Kids need more education options and less pushing from parents, coaches, and uber fans in the sports arena.

I doubt they are at day treatment because of low grades. Maybe Laker Pride for low grades, but not day treatment. You are a thug if you are in day treatment!

The entire Laker Pride system is a joke. All if the kids that were in there when I graduated were just slack offs. The kids that in middle school never did their homework and continued that way through high school. Until they got to their junior and senior years and figured out they weren't going to graduate. So they send them to "Lake Pride" for them to spoon feed them their homework like kindergarteners. It made me mad that A students were just sitting in class while the teachers at lake pride would let the students leave school and go to DQ or some other place. Why were they being rewarded when they had slacked off all this time? Laker pride is basically there just to push these kids through graduation so they won't be at the school any longer.

They need to filter any monies slated for sports into LakerPride. Education is MUCH more important than sports, and Mrs Adams has always been an asset to our children's education!

I don't know you and really don't care to. You are so very wrong!!!! Some of these kids really needed help and I for one am very glad that Laker Pride and Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Lyle care enough about these kids to give them the help they need.
They are not spoon fed anything. I have visited there and know for a fact they do work on what subject they need help with!!
I have a feeling you are one of the many that want to do away with Laker Pride and SHAME ON YOU!!!!
