almost every other county in the state is capable of providing their schools with the necessary budgets for operation. the situation in Fluvanna is an embarrassment and the result of decades of mismanagement, corruption, poor planning, and missed opportunities for revenue. Fluvanna can't afford to keep their schools open or pay for infrastructure (such as the pipeline being payed for by Louisa with tax revenue from developments at zion crossroads which Fluvanna failed to take advantage of). lets not forget about elected officials indicted for election fraud and the five or six supervisors who were terminated last year. Of course the county is going to increase taxes on it's residents, because there is no where else to get money from when you fail to develop your local economy. Only the most uneducated citizens would blame any of this on schools or teachers. Your taxes will keep going up regardless of how much the school's get out of it, because you elected corrupt supervisors with no vision for the county.
Quit making sense!! When you mentioned uneducated citizens, the REALITY blogger heard you calling his or her name. Here boy, come get your treat and make another dumb, inflamatory post.

Don't mind "Reality." He/she thinks an "idealog" is something you buy with Duraflame written on its wrapper.

its time to take the burden of funding the school budget off the backs of the property owning citizens of the county....our education system is a bottomless pit that will never have enough taxpayer money and the property owners cannot continue to afford these half cent and one, two, three or four cent per year incresases in the real estate tax rate....the bos needs to stand firm in its decision to deny a fully funded school budget.

Do you have children or did you have children? Think about this......who paid for their education.....the tax payers. So, quit your ranting, and pay up!!! It is your turn to pay the community as did others if you had children. I AM SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING TO STOP SCHOOL FUNDING!!! It can not be stopped.

It cannot be stopped but it needs to be controlled. Good job by most of the BOS for recognizing this.

Now we need details of the supposed water line deal. We cannot give up control of the treatment plant or pump stations needed. If you want county growth and more income for the schools this should be priority one for the next 2 years.

Could someone give me some insight into how the vote went by the BOS on the subject of the School budget, Maybe there is a reason why some do not care what happens to the children going to the Fluvanna school district. Maybe the very people who want petitions signed or who are complaining on the comment section of this article should go to the BOS meetings when it comes to the schools,,,when I see pictures of the room the meetings are held and only see a handfull of people in attendence I can only feel if you do not go to voice your opinion then you really should not write a comment OR is 29 only showing what they want to show on their news station.
I feel so sorry for the children of FLuvanna who do go to the schools,,,
I also wonder why someone has not asked why the school bd does not have their own budget which the people of Fluvanna would vote on as a budget and the monies voted on would go right to the the School Bd and then if they do not spend it correctly they couldn't go to the BOS asking for more instead of having all monies put into one general fund and spent the way the BOS wants it to be,

Just for the record, we were not asking for a tax hike, we were asking for the tax to remain the same. The BOS actually lowered the tax rate. Cutting our budget after it has already been cut to the bone.

Please correct your coverage as it is factually in accurate and plays into the story the BOS tell.
thank you

All I can say is that one of the 33 positions being eliminated is called a "special education interpreter." Can someone explain what that is?
R.I.P.: Harry Reems
Sorry, the special education interpreter has been eliminated. The only person who could interpret what the special education interpreter does was the special education interpreter. They have been let go. Now no one knows what they did.

A lady from the Fluvanna Taxpayer Association told us that each of the kids in each school is issued a laptop and an iPad. Why do they need both of them? Until the schools can stop wasting money on things like this, I think their budget needs to be cut! Why do kids even need an iPad? Especially in kindergarten!

It seems like every week the teachers of Fluvanna are demanding more money. When will they get enough?
When they get what they deserve for the hard work they do. You think teachers are in this for the money? If teachers were greedy money grubbers they would have majored in something else in college like business

Why should Fluvanna County Schools be any different.Look at all the local school systems Charlottesville Albemarele Greene every one of them know about what their budgets will be but yet each create their wish list to include millions more. Than they claim that the schools will fail.
Most taxpayers in these areas have to live with-in a budget. The school boards are staffed by educated people who should have enough common sense to under stand this.
The desire to not cut more teachers after having done so in great numbers already hardly constitutes the ridiculous wish list spoken of above.

Outrageous benefits? What planet are you on? A good education keeps people off of welfare. Before you bash teachers please state your so called profession so I can say how unqualified you are.

Get your facts from the schools! No laptops or IPADs are for any individual student. Stop spreading rumors!

If Fluvanna conservatives are so concerned about liberal teachers, administrators, and BOS, it's time the lazy conservatives get an education, secure those teaching positions, and run for public office. Problem fixed.

Could you possibly tell us who or what this Fluvanna Taxpayer Association is, and with what authority this lady speaks? You do realize the First Amendment gives everyone the right to say anything they wish, as long as they don't yell FIRE in a crowded room. BTW, modern technology in the classroom is no longer considered wasting money. That idea went out about 10 years ago.

The Fluvanna Taxpayer Association purports to be a bi-partisan organization looking out for Fluvanna Taxpayers. Here is a link to a recent news story about their leaders:

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Taurus

The sad fact is that a certain person isn't making much sense right now. They seem to be talking nonsense, or maybe they've got the wrong end of the stick but are hanging on to it for grim death and refuse to let you correct them. Mind you, there's also the possibility that you're the one who has got themselves in a muddle but doesn't realize it. Scary!
