ok. i have given money to some of these panhandlers and even took the risk and offered them work. needless to say i was impressed they worke hard and completed each task in great time and never once tried to short cut me. also ive never seen them high they sure wasnt doing any type of drugs while they were working for me.to the concerned citizen. you sound hateful and mean. instead of passing out a stereotype you should learn to love and give. also on a side note learn to type what you mean

i'm one of the panhandlers and apparently on massive amounts of drugs, according to the posts above. i find this very offensive and childish.

i'm a mother of 3 beautiful girls, and i have never done drugs in my entire life. the only vice i have is cigarettes and coffee. i came to virginia from my home town trying to get away from an abusive relationship. the idiot i was with pushed me through a glass sliding door and slammed it closed on me about 5 or 6 times. that makes me homeless, and currently jobless, but not a bad person, and definitely not a druggie or alcoholic.

oh and by the way, if someone wants verifiable references on any of this, go look up whsv.com and search for "amanda seagraves" or "warm shelter". i was featured on two newcasts about this. also, another person who panhandles out here regularly was recently interviewed by them as well. i can also provide court documents and police reports, if you really need it.

here's the deal. if you want to know what's going on, ask the "concerned citizen" and "distressed mother". it's the same guy. his name is darren otto. he just got kicked out of the shelter, and also has been causing trouble with a lot of us out there flying a sign. he was out there panhandling as well, started a few rumors trying to look cool about another guy out there, and when he was called out on it he couldn't handle it. so now he's going around trying to spread rumors to get back at the guy who he got in a fight with and lost.

thing is, what he doesn't realize, is now not only is he hurting the guy he's mad at, but also the two families (one of them being my family) who have been helping him out and defending him this whole time. pretty shitty, right?

so if you see a really skinny, dorky looking bald kid on a bike, asking for money, don't give it to him. this kid isn't the brightest page in the book. he might not be on drugs, but i can guarantee you he doesn't spend it on anything "necessary".

well, at least one of us is being honest here. what about you, otto? VA

ok, correction, my bad, he didn't get kicked out of the shelter. that is misinformation on my part. apparently that is another one of his lies, which we just found out is untrue as per a shelter employee. anyway, my point in all of this is that its just a bunch of drama, please ignore it as it is untrue.

Its really sad that people are so quick to judge others without knowing that person. So just because someone is panhandling automatically means they are on drugs. That's insane. Ive never panhandled before but im thankful to honestly say that i was blessed with common sense to know not to judge someone without ever talking to them. Drugs affect every walk of life not just the ones on the street.

Don't say anything bad about these people, just because they have less than you. You're not suppose to judge people, that's sinning, only God can judge. If you don't want to give, don't give, carry on with your day.. and God Bless the people who help the homeless.

It's nice to know there is good people who care for people who are less fortunate in society nowadays..
