Seriously!!! Two people lost their lives and you guys want to argue and Fight and on the internet!!! Show some respect for their loved ones. The second person died later at the hospital and was a mother to a YOUNG boy!!! Thinking of the families and praying for peace as they face this hard time. And praying for the children that will be impacted by this tragic accident!

Sorry, to disappoint some of you in here about the fallacy of your so called safe cars. True, they are made to crumble but it folds like an accordian & the engine & metal parts have to go somewhere. It goes right through the interior of the car.If you get your info from youtube, well, enough said. As for the speed limits, they are posted for safety in good weather. If it is 45 mph on that road, in bad weather is isn't. That's my point. Speed was a factor. The vehicles are demolished & not from the jaws of life. My good friend is a state trooper & I have been to crash sites with him & learned how they reconstruct accidents. They're a myriad of factors determining head on collisions. Bad weather & speed will come out in this one.
Despite the fräulein's failed attempts at English, she's right. The bodies and frames today are designed to absorb and dissipate energy rather than transmit it. No one was referring to the velocity or environment. As others have pointed out, though; is this really the place for a physics lesson?
.
My sympathies to the family of the deceased.

You're still making assumptions. Why? What do you have to prove? You weren't there when it happened, you weren't there with the state police to asses the accident. You have looked at a photo and maybe a video. Sorry, your insight isn't helping anything- it just hurts the family with assumptions and innuendo's.

It is always sad when someone loses a life in a terrible accident. It's easy to look at the wreckage here & see one or both of these vehicles were traveling faster than they should have been. The cars are made less safer today than they were years ago, all in the name of green. May both families find peace in this tradgety. God bless them.
To all who are judging the crash based on the media photo, please understand that the top was cut off by rescuers, as well as the doors, and the driver's side seatback. All was piled back into the vehicle after extraction. No doubt a horrible accident, with tragic loss of life.

So, sorry to hear about this accident, and the death of this poor young lady. Prayers and thoughts go out for her family and her so, who will live with this the rest of his life. But why, would an adult, have a 16 year old driver, driving on a snowy, ice covered road to begin with? I'm a grown, 40 year old person and been driving since I was 15 and luckly have never been and hopefuly never will in a wreak, but even at my age, driving in bad weather is not fun or easya and even the best of drivers will and can have an accident on snow and ice. If you are going fat enough to loose comtrol then your going to fast for the conditions of the road. If people would only slow the hell down.I have and will under weather condition, driven about 20mph across Afton Mt, in the snow , at 20mph, I hope I never hurt myself or anyone else. But with the way some drive across the mountain, they will problely end up killing me. Praying for all in accident, even the ones at fault.

My thoughts and prayers are with all involved. There are so many things we may not know about this situation. Waynesboro did not have any snow and the snow fell really fast. Even going slow if you hit your brakes you can slide on an icy road. Seeing the upcoming car and approaching a bridge may have lead this young driver to apply the brakes. This is tragic for all involved and hopefully compassion will be shown for the young driver and heartfelt sympathy for family members of the deceased.

Now that I realize where this wreck happened .

There was a lunch Lady from SDMS who was killed in the very same area, ice was a factor I think then also .

She was a nice lady , I think her last name was some form of Megann.

Daughter named Kim , maybe...donnie ?

Can't remember YEARS AGO

You are making assumptions, when you shouldn't. The speed limit through there is 45- a head-on collison could therefore be a 90 mph impact. The roads were very slick. Until you have all of the details, and for the sake of the family, don't make assumptions that finds fault when there may not be any.
Young driver in Durango was speeding, hit my friend...killed her instantly and her son is banged up and lucky to have walked away. Thank God her daughter was not in the car.
